"There's No Such Thing As Macra..." Well, Now There is!

Hey, I am one! The cut has dropped Macra from "Buy on the day" to "Get it in cex". Equally, poor sales might read as 'make no more' rather than 'Do not cut!'

One of the extras listed is a full telesnap reconstruction of Macra paired with the UNedited audio (with optional narration by Anneke Wills). So if you need the 'Second Doctor gets an extreme makeover' scene that bad, you'll get that much of it at least.

They say that now.

But I remember when this venture first started all the way back with The Invasion, (colloquial) they said it was a one-off and not to expect any more. And now look where we are. :D

It might be better if they don't take the task, though. Its possible a different team could work those stories better.

Plus, you can't seriously tell me The Crusade couldn't have been drawn. It'd be difficult, but impossible.

The animation does seem to be improved...

The animation does seem to be improved...

It is, the faces are much more expressive now, and most movement looks better. The only real weakness left is when someone walks/runs and you can see their whole body. I think that only happened a few times in the whole serial, so it's not a big issue.

Really fun serial too. I never watch the telesnap recons or listen to the audios of the deleted eps, so this was entirely fresh to me, and I enjoyed it a lot. Sometimes I take breaks between eps in serials (given that's how they were originally intended to be watched), but I watched all four in a row as I was enjoying it so much.

Hmm... The animation's much better than previous reconstructions, but it still has some of the stiff, jerky 2D movement I dislike about Flash animation (i.e. looking more like a flat image being moved around in the frame than a 3D body shifting perspective as it moves), yet it's combined with an overly bouncy, Disneyesque quality to the character movements, the way people keep bobbing their heads and bodies up and down as they talk.

Here is a comparison between the re-creation and what still exists of the original. They did take a few liberties, even in scenes that still exist, and there is one scene from the first episode that was not animated.

It looks pretty good overall, and the changes make sense, although it's really frustrating that they couldn't be allocated the time and money necessary to recreate everything, including that "rough and tumble" scene. It sounds like it was cut largely because it would've required the lead characters to change their clothes and hair and the animators didn't have the budget to create alternate models. Which is an annoying limitation of CGI animation. With hand-drawn animation, it's easy to change a character's look.

Got my copy yesterday, I am looking forward to giving it a watch tomorrow night.

Wait, what is it that they cut from the story, again? I didn't get that, as I've never experienced the story before.

From the looks of it, though, looks like its going to be the best animation so far. Can't wait for my copy to arrive.

Thanks for the clip! So, the animation takes a page from The Invasion's animation and creates plot hole by having Polly having short hair from the beginning. Well... there are worse things in this world going on right now, but still, they could have avoided this if they'd wanted to.

Producer/Director Charles Norton says they've basically ruled out animating The Daleks Master Plan or any of the historicals - it'd take too long, cost too much, and some of the things in them are far too tough to draw (if they even had enough photos to know what to draw).
How is the audio on those episodes? I read that many lost episodes cannot be animated because the audio quality isn't as good.

As expected, Ian Levine hated it, saying he didn't like they cut out the above scene, and changed the ending.

As someone who never watched it... how was the ending changed?
