There sure is a lot of earth-related crap floating around in the Delta Quadrant.

We have seen Talaxians beyond the Nekrit Expanse. FAR beyond. See the 7th season episode "HOMESTEAD". The Borg could have assimilated a scouting party.

I agree about the Vidiians, particularly because of their medical technology. But their disease has ravaged them for longer than the Borg have even existed. That might make them useless as an assimilation source.

According to Guinan, the Borg are thousands of centuries old. The Phage seems only slightly over twenty (i.e. 2 millennia). Yet the Borg only had assimilated 'a handful of systems' 900 years before the time of Voyager.

Their tech might be very worthwhile to the Borg. Imagine a Borg that can assimilate you from a distance of 40 meters, just by pointing a Vidiian style tricorder at you and beaming nanobots straight into your bloodstream ...

Are we to believe that the Think Tank cured the Vidians though?

He could have been lying to tempt Janeway with something that she would be familiar with. He knew enough about Voyager to make that trap to get Seven, it stands to reason he knew they encountered the Vidiians, too.

Except the Talaxians have been assimilated. And the Vidiians would have been excellent addition to the collective...
No, they haven't.

The Borg where finished when they tried to conquer Earth, that ti me when they had assimilated Picard. They never became any serious threat after that, except for a futile attempt to coquer earth by travel back in time, an attempt which also failed.

Both Species 8472 and the Voth most likely wiped their a**es so they never even reached Talaxia.

Well, as the Think Tank were a bunch of untrustworthy manipulative geniuses, I'd say they could have but there's no guarantee they did. Also, the phage might be no problem for the Borg, for all we know it is defenseless against their nanoprobes. So I don't think they need necessarily be cured before they can be assimilated. Then again, perhaps it is as dangerous to the Borg Collective as it is to the Vidiians, probably there's no way of telling.

One wonders if Voyager could have hired them to get them home... it sounds like the sort of challenge they would take an interest in.

And Seven. She has no great interest in getting back to Earth, and might be willing to make a sacrifice for her "collective".

Yes, so it's really down to Janeway. She might still be headstrong enough to refuse to let her pet project go, claiming that 7 is 'not yet ready to choose her own path'. Of course, this being Voyager, the script would be written in such a way that in the end, everyone (except the Think Tank) is convinced that Janeway is Morally Right. (not saying that she would be wrong, but I think there could be several different valid perspectives.)

I didn't mean the entire race....

Well, the nanoprobes can cure death so why not the phage?

Well, what makes me doubt is that Vidiian medical science was advanced far beyond that the Federation, and it still couldn't cure the plague, them noting that 'it adapts, it resists all attempts to destroy it... our immuno-technology cannot keep up'. And we do know that some biological organisms can resist (unmodified) nanoprobes (species 8472 most notably). So the Borg not being able to handle the phage just might be possible.

True but I am thinking, the Doctor could recreate a disease-free body for Danara so maybe the solution would be to use that holographic body to create a real one.
