There is no communication between everyone

One of the aspects of shows that I don't like is an apparent lack of communication between everyone, it makes everyone look stupid. For example, in the series LOST, they do this a lot, for the first few seasons everyone went off on their own adventures and did stuff and never shared what happened with everyone else, so for like a long while only a few knew there were polar bears on the island. Just no communication about what was going on, no sharing of information.

The same thing is happening in SGU, no one is communicating information to everyone informing people what has been happening, what is happening and what the options are. You've got a lot of stuff happening, but the mass of people keep asking the same stupid question: Are we going to get home? Can't they just get everyone together and say look, we went through the Stargate to a ship that is billions of light years from Earth, we don't have the power required to dial Earth from here, and this ship seems to pass through star systems that have been seeded with Stargates, which also don't have the power to dial Earth. We currently have no option for reaching Earth right now, but we are making every effort to try and get control of the ship to do so.

Beyond that, there is just a general lack of information sharing between everyone and it annoys me when everyone keeps stuff to themselves, especially Rush.

I agree. I often find this method of developing a plot line frustrating, unless it is handled really well. A lack of communication, however, does not seem to be anything new for television. "Three's Company" had this problem, too! The Ropers NEVER were told (or never understood) what Janet, Chrissie and Jack were actually up to.....

Well, if I understand it correctly, it's still only been a few days since they were dropped onto the ship, so even if they've got the kit to keep everyone in the loop, it seems it may be a while before they've got themselves organised.

At the beginning of the 4th episode, they've still yet to get a basic personnel manifest compiled.

On LOST it makes perfect sense. People tend to be secretive by nature and hardly anyone knew anyone else on the island. They had little reason to trust them completely, especially regarding stuff that they may have thought would create a panic or get themselves or everyone else killed.

On SG:U it makes no sense. These are largely military and scientific personnel who have been working with one another for some time now. They're trained to share information.

Stargate's writers are just really, really awful. It's bad enough that they all but rewrote the first episode from SG:A, but this time they've given themselves shoes way too big to fill. Plenty of other writers could handle it with ease, but not these clowns. Which is ironic considering the clown shoes.

Does that make Eli the "Jack Tripper" character? Who is Janet and Chrissy? And more importantly, who are the Ropers and Mr. Furley?
