There is no Clara Oswald, there never was

We got a "wow" line in the teaser for the next episode. "There is no Clara Oswald, there never was".

What are your theories? I have two...

1. Clara = Missy

2. Clara is some kind of artifical humanoid with artifical memories believing to be real herself, created to hurt / foil the doctor somehow for some reason. And now her "REAL" programming has been activated. Probably by Missy...which would kinda fit with the "Clara....now I have children" comment. And it would fit with Moffats "round-about-reconning"-style.

What do you think?

It's a stretch but could be The Great Intelligence...

If Clara never existed then the Doctor's timeline could be adjusted. Given what she did for the Doctor she did come into contact with the GI so he would love to get revenge on her.

Missy is likely this version of Clara, working out of her 'heaven' - The GI did always exist on a 'spiritual' plain before trying to invade the Earth...

I'm betting it's some kind of double bluff. It's a hugely important twist to blow in the trailer, otherwise.

Some people on tumblr have been spinning this theory as well. If this is the twist, I will take back almost everything bad i've said and thought about Clara.

By this point, I don't care who or what Clara is. I just want her gone. Permanently.

That line is probably Clara having a breakdown and stressing out about having all those different lives, or something mundane.

The fact that she's Missy's pawn kind of reminds me of Turlough, who was the pawn of the Black Guardian. And I've posited that Missy could easily be the BG.

In the new promo there's a line: "The dead don't come back".

Could it be Clara from the Victorian era?

Think about it: The umbrella, the stance/attitude.

This bad Clara could be one of the other versions.

The Victorian Clara from the x-mas episode died, so what, another Victorian version?

Given the cybermen and the imagery, like cyberman's eyes shaped windows behind her, maybe reanimated Clara? Brought back by the cybermen.

One, oddball as hell, ideal I had was perhaps the massive tomb we see in the trailers, and given UNIT's involvement in the story, is that maybe the tombs are for past enemies, victims, and/or companions of the Doctor.

I am so glad it's not just me! I'm not sure even her being Missy, being GI and then revealed as being Old Man Jones, who would've got away with it if it weren't for those meddling kids, can redeem Clara. She has truly out lived her purpose by now.

I'm rather tired of Clara, as well. The character just doesn't feel like a believable person to me. I didn't particularly like Amy Pond but I cared about her because I "believed" her character. There's something about the way she was written/developed that makes me not care about her one way or another. I care more about Danny, since he seems to resemble an actual person, and he's had only a fraction of the screen time.

I imagine what will happen is that something horrible will happen to Danny--maybe he'll be turned into a Cyberman--and Clara will become enraged at how the Doctor gets people killed, etc, etc. She'll meet up with Missy, or turn into Missy, in some fashion.

I am curious to find out about Missy, at least.

I don't mind Clara but I do mind this new age 'lets give the companion more interesting stories than the Doctor' bollocks. I HATE the "lets get back in time for tea" wrap at the end of the episode. I wish there'd just be someone that moves into the Tardis and stays with him without a partner.
