I suppose, but nobody onscreen ever claimed that anyone is 'fond' of saying it.

As per the OP.. I believe that the line in ST TWOK was a reference not to TOS, but to lines earlier IN THE SAME FILM... in which Kirk and Spock talk about possibilities

Khan remembering Chekov is the most blatant one.

But there are others.

When, in the original series, did Kirk ever mention his fondness for antiques?

Some are even rather funny. Spock's brother showing up out of nowhere for instance.

Well, Kirk's quarters have often had what look like antiques in them, and his apt. in ST II is littered with them. Spock's brother was one of the most lame mugguffin's in all of Trek and really hate accepting that movie at face value.

... as opposed to Spock's bride, his father, and his mother showing up unannounced when it provided for a story. Or Chekov's brother not showing up.
