There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions?

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

get him off of risa and star writting star trek books agin allways loved his books
as well as you'res Mr. cox.

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

Well, his books were excellent, at a time when most Trek books were pretty mediocre, at best.

Gene was right about Exiles--it was a darn good read.

With Andy gone, Howard may just be what the doctor ordered.

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

maybe something from david gerrold... would be fantastic.

David Gerrold once had a ST novel pitch with Pocket, called "The Space Vampire", but disputed the size of tie-in royalties compared to what he would get writing his own original fiction. So the "Encounter at Farpoint" novelization was his last for licensed ST. Don't hold your breath for more.

In 2006 Gerrold did co-edit, with Robert J. Sawyer, an essay collection about ST titled "Boarding the Enterprise".

Gerrold's original science fiction is always worth reading. Lately he's been uploading several eBook novellas and is supposedly still beavering away on future, long-postponed "Chtorr" novels.

Now that Rise Like Lions has been moved to the December book this year...

First I've heard of this. What was originally slated to come out in December and what happened to that book?

Andy Mangels on this board said the two have split for good. The breakup was not amicable.

Also the first I've heard of this. Did Mangels finally divulge some details? The last I saw, he would not get into specifics, which set off alarms in my mind.

It's unfortunate. But what's even worst is that since this split, it appears that they're only going with Martins and the results have been... unfortunate.

Originally, the trade of Blind Man's Bluff was scheduled for January, and the reprint was scheduled for... I want to say September or October, I don't quite remember. When the trade was moved to this month, it obviously didn't make sense for the reprint to come out like 4 months after the trade, so they took it off the schedule and bumped all the other MMPBs up a month. Apparently, the BMB reprint is now scheduled for January, where Rise Like Lions used to be.

Still, it's a reprint coming out less than a year later, which is fine by me (and shows it can indeed be done). I won't spend the money for the TPB after Treason.

I'm such a completionist that I'm still contemplating selling off the TPB and buying the MMPB of Treason just to have it even though I hated the book.

I would really love more DS9 to fill in the gaps or a non-Romulan War Enterprise. I enjoyed the first Romulan war novel but would have liked to have seen one of the season 5 ideas as a book. Another Voyager or Aventine book would be good as well.

My "hope" is the same as my "prediction"-- that the unknown DRG3 projects are DS9 related, specifically, books about events alluded to in RBoE.

Definitely. I'd love to see DRGIII continue writing DS9 stories. Hope we get an announcement soon. :techman:

Anything about time travel or parallel universes? "The Man Who Folded Himself" is one of my all-time favorite novels.

If those two novels by David R. George III turn out to be both DS9 novels I think I might just plotz! Rough Beasts of Empire mentioned some interesting events between that novel and The Soul Key, so let us hope George gets to write about them.

That's why I think DRG3's book, or at least one of them, will be DS9 related. The events alluded to were too specific not to be followed up on. He did the same thing in Mission Gamma: Twilight, making very specific reference to events in Vaughn's past that he later wound up chronicling Serpent Among the Ruins.

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

I would really like some more DS9 books set during the series.

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

I'd like to see S.D. Perry do another DS9R novel - she makes worlds come alive, and the relaunch could use focused, vibrant attention. Avatar, Terok Nor, etc - she's wonderful.

Christopher Bennett do another Titan - he expands horizons in a realistic way, and Titan is the torchbearer for exploration. If you see this Christopher, Orion's Hounds and The Buried Age are IMHO in the top echelon of Trek books written in the past half dozen years.

Something in TNG? Although it's my favorite television series, it's one of my least favorite of the few written ones that I revisit.

Alternatively, a road-less-travelled-by one-shot would be good by Una McCormick (Hollow Men), Margaret Wander Bonnano (Catalyst of Sorrows), Diane Duanne (Rihannsu), Ilsa Bick (Well of Souls), or one of the actors or producers - Andrew Robinson (Stitch in Time), JG Hertzler/Jeff Lang (Left Hand of Destiny), John de Lancie/PAD (I,Q), Armin Shimmerman/DRGIII (34th Rule), Jeri Taylor (Mosaic).

Thanks! I'd love to revisit Titan, but I won't be doing it in '12, since I've already got a full plate with Typhon Pact: The Courage of Conscience (TNG) and Forgotten History (TOS/DTI).

I just looked up Courage of Conscience, and I think it'll be my first ever e-book. :)

When's the blurb coming out?
