There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions?

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

I'd imagine there will be a novelization of Star Trek XII as well.

2013 will be the 20th anniversary of DS9. Hopefully that will encourage a spike in DS9 books for that year at least.

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

I don't know why they decided to do a trilogy so soon after Destiny. Trilogies usually mean Something Big, how else you do keep a plot going over three linked novels?
Not to nitpick, but Destiny was published at the end of 2008, and this new trilogy is slated for the end of 2012. That's a four-year span between trilogies. They're hardly tripping over each other. ;)

What, you, nitpick? Never! :vulcan:

I'm as eager as anybody to see what you're up to, but I was surprised that the editors would authorize a second trilogy. It's like having two sundaes at a restaurant. Sure, you want to in a perfect world but it never happens most of the time.

I'm just surprised by the editorial choice, that's all.

Why is this surprising? Pocket has done quite a few trilogies over the years -- The Q Continuum in 1998, My Brother's Keeper and Rebels in 1999, Millennium in early 2000, Dark Matters and New Frontier: Excalibur in late 2000, The Janus Gate and Errand of Vengeance in '02, Worlds of Deep Space Nine from '04-5, Vulcan's Soul gradually from '04 to '07, Errand of Fury gradually from '05 to '09, String Theory in '05-6, Crucible in '06-7, Terok Nor and Destiny in '08. And that's not counting all the duologies, tetralogies, 6- and 7- and 9-book series, etc.

Multibook events tend to sell well. Why wouldn't a publisher want to do them often?

I'm expecting a Star Trek XII novelization as well. Would like something DS9 as well.

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

I always hope un-announced slots are filled with DS9 books. :)

After we get that out of the way I would be most excited by Titan or Voyager books filling the slots. Having the previously canceled reboot books come out would be cool but I'm not expecting that to happen this year.

Probably the only thing I can think of that that might come out that I'm not particularly looking forward to would be an Enterprise book. The last couple just haven't done much for me and the thought of a new Romulan War book coming out doesn't excite me at all.

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

I'm also STILL waiting for the last SCE books not to mention Slings and Arrows.

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

Personally, I hope one of David R. George's books will follow-up on RBoE.

In a way I hope the new trilogy will cover the Ascendants Arc from DS9, but I can't help but wonder if three books is a bit much.
Then again, Warpath/Fearfull Symmetry/The Soul Key were also three connecting books about one subject in a way.

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

Another Beyer Voyager novel would be nice.

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

1. Another New Frontier book would be welcomed.
2. If the David Mack trilogy does not involve the Aventine then a novel centred on Ezri Dax's crew would be great.
3. A Trek novel written by KRAD

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

I did not know about all of these. They sound great.

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

Not paying for anything with Micheal Martin's name on it.

This. Although if Andy Mangals does rejoin his old partner, I'll stay well clear as well.

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

Since it sounds like most of the major series are covered, I'd like to see more experimental stuff like DTI or IFM.

Most, but certainly not all. DS9 has been conspicuously absent for some time now, though some of the characters have made appearences in other novels/series lately. Since I'm just getting back into Treklit after a ten-year hiatus and am in the middle of the DS9 relaunch, DS9 is sort of close to my heart right now and I'd like to see something DS9 related, though I'm certainly not expecting it.

I'm extremely excited about any new Vanguard and can't wait for MU: Rise Like Lions and I'm a sucker for any experimental/new series.

When push comes to shove though, I'm happy for any new Treklit that we can get our hands on!

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

I want to see another Enterrpise Romulan war novel and more Tos and Ds9 novels.I'd like to see Sling and Arrows printed as a story anthology. Also a nother Titan novel too.

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

I'm hoping for more Voyager and more Titan. Also new New Frontier and Romulan War trades. I'm also hoping for a return of the eBook line now that so many more people read them. Restarting Corps of Engineers would be my preference, but a series of vignettes, epilogues, or experimental stories would also be welcomed. I'm thinking of ways to revive series that there doesn't seem to be space for in the MMPB schedule, like I.K.S. Gorkon, Stargazer, Challenger, Aventine, etc.

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

If we're talking authors, I wouldn't say no to something by Diane Duane or Kevin Ryan(the errand series was superb).

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

A new Diane Duane novel is something I've hoping for it's be terrific to have her write another Tos novel.:techman:

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

Frankly, I'm already swamped with tons upon tons of Trek novels I have yet to read.

That being said...I will be among the first to rush* to Amazon if an upcoming novel (maybe the trilogy, Mr. Mack...hmm? :)) picks up on the ending of Zero Sum Game.

Something--anything to build on that, and the exposive relationship/triangle Mr. Mack was so kind to treat us with in that book....

*(Pun actually wasn't intended...just a terrible coincidence.)

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

I would relish another Gorkon book by KRAD; another VOY-R book by Kirsten; and i'd love another novel by Bill Leisner set anywhere :)

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

maybe something from david gerrold or howard wienstien would be fantastic.

Re: There are 3 so-far-unannounced novels next year. Hopes/predictions

Are Gerrold and Weinstein still writing Trek?
