What Picard needs is a wife. Is Beverly still around for him? If Beverly is no longer around, maybe Troi should hang up her therapist coat and put on a caregiver one, like T'Pol did for Archer in ENT's "Twilight". She could actually be useful for a change.
I think both Beverly and Deanna are capable of much more than being a mere 'caregiving' role to the men. Why would either of them give up their job to dote on Picard? Why would it be assumed that Crusher would automatically fulfil certain roles in Picard's life as his wife? This is the 24th century, not the 20th. Or the 21st.
