I do wonder whether Picard will have a counselor in his new show. Grief-stricken, having a counselor would make more sense than ever.

At his age, Picard has a right to be as cranky as he wants. He does not need no stinkin' counselor at his age.
What Picard needs is a wife. Is Beverly still around for him?
If Beverly is no longer around, maybe Troi should hang up her therapist coat and put on a caregiver one, like T'Pol did for Archer in ENT's "Twilight". She could actually be useful for a change.
And would it be too much to ask that Wesley should come visit often as well, to cheer him up and such.

I doubt he'll be sticking around the vineyard very long. But if Starfleet assigns security to former admirals the way that former presidents get Secret Service, hopefully one of them will have some wisdom to share. Guinan was very handy with a phaser, and Troi seemed bored with counseling when she was doing the command exam, so who knows.
Just finished another rewatch of the complete DS9 and really can't fathom WHY Ezri is on the Defiant for the final attack. Jadzia at least was a pilot and sometime commander of the ship. Ezri is a confused and very green counselor. Should have left her to console the worried Quark.
