Spoilers Theory - Crusher's assistant = ...?

Methuselah Flint

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
May be too obvious writing...however...

It's implied in Attached that Crusher had no idea that Picard was in love with and/or had feelings for her.

They flirted/expressed possibility of expanding their relationship in episodes such as Allegiance (albeit the fake Picard), but it was never taken any further.

However, Crusher did leave the ship in season two.

What if they had sex during the Naked Now, and Crusher had the baby in season two?

It wouldn't retcon their relationship, as their 'act' was under the virus.

Of course, they could have gone further and made love anytime post-Attached, so that's a possibility too.

It would explain the Picard/Crusher conflict this season. I.e. she didn't tell him.

All pure guesses, and possibly too fanw**ky.

Thoughts..?

The theory is heavily explored in this video from the Popcast.

The character was cast at the same time as Renée Picard from PICARD season 2.

Watching Star Trek with his dad every Sunday from the living room couch, Matalas felt like Captain Picard and his chief medical officer on the Enterprise were among the "will they, won't they" greats of television. "It feels like, 'Why didn't they for decades?'" he asks himself. "It felt like it should have gone there in a feature film. Now that you're here at the end, wouldn't it be great to see, 'Oh, they went there alright.'"

With the return of McFadden as Beverly Crusher, Matalas says "we get to see the fallout of that," as well as "a coming together" in the final season.

Could've been S2 and that's why she left, or also S4, when Gates was really pregnant, and they filmed around it trying to hide it with her coat and special camera angles

If "Jack Jr." is indeed Picard's son, I imagine Jean-Luc won't be too happy that Beverly didn't tell him...

Maybe she did. From the S3 script:

PICARD: I did what you wanted. ...I stayed away. ...Why didn't you tell him?
BEV: How can you ask me that? Were we together? Were we going to be? You had your world and I had mine. And I wanted him in mine, not chasing through the universe with his father. ... Actually, he's a lot like you. In many ways. Please tell me what you're feeling.
PICARD: There's a man woman out there I haven't seen in fifteen years have never seen who's trying to kill me. You show me a son that'd be happy to help him. My son. ...My life that could have been, ...and wasn't. And what am I feeling? ...Old. ...Worn out.

She would have been 39-40 during the first season of NextGen,so if Jack Jr. was conceived then and that's why she went to Starfleet Medical I can buy that.

A Nemesis-era conception, she's in her mid-fifties and a few years past her natural reproductive capacity, and while I think 24th-century medical technology could artificially produce a viable egg for a post-menopause woman for in vitro, she's not having a child accidentally at that age and Jean-Luc would certainly be aware.
