Spoilers Theory about the Franklin

That wasn't the Venture. The Venture was from The Way of the Warrior and still had the phaser banks on top of the nacelles that were added onto the model for its turn as the future Enterprise in AGT. The ship in my post clearly does not have phaser banks on the nacelle tops. Indeed, I'm almost certain the ship in my post is CG. Admittedly, much of the final battle in WYLB is re-used footage from other Dominion War battles, I'm quite certain that shot is new.

However, you are right the Venture did not have name or registry on its hull either. So that's two Galaxy class ships without.

Sorry, I realized I was talking about the wrong ship after I posted. See my edited response above.

But my point still stands about the Venture. That was more of a VFX snafu than a legitimate instance of Starfleet not printing info on their ships.

Not if you go by the DS9 Tech Manual explanation; that those Galaxies were unfinished hulls that were thrown into the battle at the last minute.
Hmm, interesting. I'd heard that theory before but didn't realize it had any kind of official backing. Still, sounds like the kind of retcon tie-in books are known to do, and not the intention of the CG artists. Like the Venture, I'd say this was another snafu, or at least the result of not enough time to insert a name. Kind of like on Voyager, both Defiant class ships sent to retake the Prometheus have USS Defiant NX-74205 on their hulls. Although, I have jokingly speculated that those ships could be the Defiant and the Sao Paulo.

ive always said the following.

NX is supposedly denoting a prototype ship, like excelsior in the first movie we see it in.

then in enterprise it becomes the standard prefix for STARFLEET SHIPS so as to denote them from everything else they ownded. And then it switches to NCC- for the federation

No, in Enterprise NX was a starship class, and ships of that class used NX in their registries. Like Enterprise NX-01, Columbia NX-02, Avenger NX-09. Presumably Intrepid's registry was something like NV-04 or something, I don't know.

When the Federation was founded NCC became the standard for all Starfleet ships with NX used for experimental.

I thought it was pretty clear that Edison was given captaincy of some old jalopy as a consolation prize when the MACOs were disbanded.

Kor

Yup the film makes that pretty clear, it certainly was hardly a prize assignment given his, lets face it, disproportionate negative attitude.
