Spoilers Theory about Carl

Unimatrix Q

Commodore
Commodore
Being the GoF doesn't necessarily exclude the possibility that Carl is a Q.
Remember this scene from "Death Wish":

"JANEWAY: This was your existence before your confinement?
QUINN: I traveled the road many times, sat on the porch, played the games, been the dog, everything. I was even the scarecrow for a while.
JANEWAY: Why?
QUINN: Because I hadn't done it.
Q: Oh, we've all done the scarecrow. Big deal. "

Maybe one of the mentioned things was a symbol for taking the role of the Guardian...

The more I think about it, I'd prefer the show doesn't answer who or what Carl is, even if he is the Guardian of Forever. Questions are more interesting than answers, and sometimes more satisfying.

Imagine if they actually told us the Doctor's name. It's better that they've never told us.

The Doctor didn't have a name.

^^^ exactly - some ‘doors’ should not necessarily be opened and walked through, despite the fact they could be...

The allure of the road not travelled...

To labour the point, a modern analogy might be waiting in line for a long time to get into a highly sought-after club, and when finally gaining entry, discovering it wasn’t really worth queuing for...

And we should care what RMB says...why, exactly?

1. The newspaper is a direct reference to City on The Edge of Forever.
2. The soup kitchen, the newspaper itself, amongst other small details on it.
3. RMB hasn't been wrong yet dealing with the two parter.
4. He hates NUTREK with a passion, and will jsut leak shit out of spite.
5. The doorway
6. This entire season being based on dimensions and time.

I don't know why people are being so stubborn about this lol.

I mean if you pay attention to the other small details in the other episodes, the Guardian is basically the logical end all.

Oh, I'd say he has.

He was whining about how "Terra Firma" would blow the entirety of established Trek canon out of the water, but has it? Not in the slightest.

Yes he is talking about the CANON Guardian, in the original TOS episode it's a hexagonal doorway. They are throwing that out, and replacing it with Ellison original script idea. Which was scrapped ONLY due to budget.

So, i'll just watch the episode a 2AM EST tomorrow, and just post here, I mean this is kind of funny, that you aren't even taking the hints from the Newspaper, which is the BIGGEST giveaway.

"Beckwith is then escorted to the surface of a nearby planet alongside Kirk, with Spock to carry out the execution by firing squad. Because of the planet's atmosphere, they have to wear environmental suits. On arriving, they find an ancient civilization and the remains of a city — this was Ellison's "city on the edge of forever". It is inhabited by several 9-foot-tall (2.7 m) men, the Guardians of Forever, who protect an ancient time machine.[4]"

Also:

"Justman's initial glee at receiving the script was short-lived. He realized quickly that it was unfilmable due to cost, and the characters were not behaving as per the writer's guide. "
