I don't like the guitar much either, and the sunglasses are lame, but I'm glad that he's finally "bedded in."

All they've done is turn him into an occasionally very slightly grumpy Matt Smith. Even if it didn't completely work at least they tried something new last year.

Good. I thought it aimed high but fell flat.

It seemed like the episode mainly explained that an invasion already took place and it somehow felt off. It may well be a great set up for part 2 though. But, it introduced not only what happened after the Zygon treaty (the 20 million Zygon thing), which was like whoa itself, but then also the whole invasion thing and it was a bit too much explained rather than shown through the story. Also, is should be, as the promo says, Clara Oswald and the Doctor flying around in the TARDIS. Not them playing phone tag!! Jeez!

Also I thought the cliffhanger was a bit predictable. Clara's lets go back to my apartment thing was a set up to lure the lady to the underground Zygon HQ and wham, you realize that Clara was already a Zygon. Especially when she manipulated the Zygon control with ease! And the lone lady in the town, how could she not be a Zygon?!

I thought the part where the UNIT soldiers in that foreign country all walked into the building with the Zyongs was just place dumb. Yes, it would make it hard if they looked like your relatives but you know they’re not! And, they’re trained professionals. So, that didn’t work for me.

So, I pretty much knew where the Kate storyline was going to end up and the Clara storyline. Not sure how the Doctor survives the missile shot at the plane, but obviously he does. Maybe the plane has a missile defense? Wouldn't be a surprise for the plane for the President of the World!

Finally, why is there a picture of William Hartnell at the UNIT safe house?

It's not a picture of William Hartnell because he didn't wear a wig! ;)

But, I did wonder why there was a picture of the first Doctor hanging there because UNIT never met that incarnation as far as we know! I suppose they may have researched his past activities for their files and came across the activities of that incarnation, who did work with the British military in the War Machines.

There was that line where Kate said Clara had "top level security rating from her last visit" when they were looking at the wall of pictures in the Black Archive. Maybe I'm interpreting it wrong. But it certainly seems at this point that she is "activated" during crises and basically serves as the Doctor's proxy on Earth.

And then Clara asked "Last visit?" and Kate explained UNIT always screens the Doctor's companions. Nothing about Clara actually being part of UNIT.

Something appearing to be dead but then coming back to life or turning out to have been alive all along. Davros, the Master, Skaro itself, the sewer Daleks, the various ghosts on the lake base, the Ghost Doctor, the Fisher King, Ashilde, Sam Swift, Osgood.

I'd argue against those bolded examples as "appearing to be dead." The Master and Davros always return, so at this point we should stop assuming they died. Especially the Master, since the last time we saw Missy it should have been very clear she wasn't really killed. Meanwhile, Skaro was already established as "resurrected" in Asylum of the Daleks.

...if the soldier believed the shapeshifters, they were shapeshifters, but if the soldiers shot their families it would have been their families.

I had that same thought.

They had Susan's picture on that board in the Black Archive™ (DOTD). They know more that they're saying.

The Brig saw the First Doctor in both Three Doctors and Five Doctors. He may be the Doctor's friend, but he's military enough he'd make a report. UNIT probably figured that any version of the Doctor might show up, so they'd need to recognize him.

They should have set it in Durkadurkastan and made it a crossover with Team America, TA being the American version of UNIT.

Just finished watching it, was ok but not sure if I actually like the idea of Doctor Who does the War on Terror thing. I clocked Clara was replaced as soon as she put her hair up and having the Zygons shapeshift into loved ones to stop them from shooting was an interesting touch.

Countermeasures didn't pass on any information about the 7th Doctor to UNIT. ;)

A short trip came out last month where 8 met Mike Yates previous to encountering 3, without any time bullshit to smooth over their encounter.

I still find it amusing to remind people that UNIT (circa early 90s) views the 7th Doctor as the most dangerous (ie untrustworthy.).

Well he was. He's got that Time's Champion thing going on. Oh, you thought Tennant as the Timelord Victorious was bad? This guy will fuck up your timeline so bad you won't know what you had for breakfast, or if you have even had breakfast, haven't had breakfast yet, or in fact if breakfast still exists as a concept.

This week we found out Twelve wears question mark underwear. Seven wore a whole jumper, had an umbrella and left a calling card with a question mark on. He is basically the Doctor's wang, on display and thrust into your hand. Or shielding you from rain.

Sorry guys, but I firmly thought this potentially good episode was sunk by UNIT being downgraded from moderately helpful redshirts down to pants on heads, pencils up noses helpless retards (to be un-PC). I voted "Rubbish" and contrary to popular opinion I vastly preferred the "Me" two parter, despite looking a bit cheap in places.

Gosh what rubbish. In fact, this is the worst season of nuWho I recall. Just not enjoying it *at all*. Might just take it on an episode by episode basis based on the trailers.

Damn.

So, do we already know the outcome of next week's episode? Since it's titled "The Zygon Inversion", and Harry Sullivan created a gas that turns Zygons inside out?

Haha, I'm looking forward to that.

OK, scored it good. I hated the stupidity of the soldiers, and was taken aback by the Doctor saying try not to kill all of them..

I wonder if perhaps the Doctor on the plane is in fact a Zygon.

Also hopefully Bonnie can replace Clara for the rest of the series.

Reminds me of that scene on the transporter pad in Galaxy Quest
