The X-Files : Season X (Spoilers!)

Definitely a pretty fun and wacky episode, even if it felt completely out of character from the earlier episodes.

And unfortunately I still can't shake this vague feeling of "been there, done that" while watching the show, like we're just seeing some kind of Greatest Hits of the X-Files instead of something that is actually trying to re-energize the show in a cool and bold new way.

The problem for me is that there's absolutely no cohesiveness. They could have really taken the time to do 6 stories that were at least partly interconnected.

Episode 1: fun to have the show back, but it really rankles me to have Mulder not believe in an alien conspiracy anymore. How many goddamn aliens did he see in the original series?! This is that "Gethsemane" bull all over again. I hated that one too.

Episode 2: extremely average and forgettable. But kudos for being tangentically connected to the conspiracy storyline.

Episode 3: absolute gold. So hilarious. Classic Darin Morgan. One of my all time favorite X-Files comedies. Rhys Darbys was perfection. Also, Mulder finally develops a sense of humor again, something sorely missing from the first two episodes.

Yes, but he was also told of an alien invasion thats over 3 years over due. So it's probably a case of wondering what else wasn't exactly true.

Mostly this:
I liked the silly tone of the episode at first, but it started to wear on me as the story progressed.

It seemed too much of a parody to me. It had its moments but in the end I was like "Meh..." The plot twist of the monster being turned into a human instead of vice versa was very clever, I would have liked it if they explored it a bit more. It felt hasty to me because of the long almost-monologue of the monster at the cemetery, I would like it better if Mulder and Scully were more active.

That being said, I enjoyed the goofy-tone, especially Scully's face while listening to Mulder at the hotel.

Just a side note for everyone - that was Kumail Nanjiani, star of Silicon Valley and host of the The X-Files Files podcast. He's had some great interviews with Mark Snow, the Morgans, and a quick chat with David & Gillian. His episode reviews are pretty insightful and most of the C-list celebrities he has on the show are at least entertaining.
Love him in Silicon Valley and he was great here. Really looking forward to SV's return, which is HBO's best comedy.

I'm a fan of it. It was great seeing him on the show.

Yeah I've also been listening to his podcast since it began. Great podcast.

Mulder and Scully slept in different rooms? Come on, kids, let's rekindle that spark! :adore:

You detractors are too harsh. That was a fantastic episode. Funny as hell!

Well Darin was hinting at that. Scully was wearing Mulder's shirt and she said 'that's the way I like MY Mulder'.. so I figure that they're doing that . Stupid separate rooms thing aside.

I appreciated the "twist" and much (but not all) of the humor in the newest episode. I found the plot interesting and somewhat new (to me, at least). Still nervous though... and only six episodes, right? Psh.

This episode was utter hilarity, and played the dynamic between our heroes very nicely. Classic X-Files. On a par with some of the best stuff from the original run.

I like how the new IWTB poster belongs to Scully instead of Mulder now.

I hope the runaway global success of the new season gets us some more. I believe Anderson isn't too keen, but I hope she will change her mind when she sees how much people are loving it. And Scully is her signature character after all.

So, if the lizard guy stole his clothes from one of the serial killers' victims - does that mean the killer killed Kolchack?

wonderful classic X-Files feel , the humour , the interplay between Mulder and Scully in the hotel room. Loved everything :) The X-Files ring tone was a terrific touch ; I also like how the Scully subduction scene was so over the top cheesy that it complemented the the humour of the episode perfectly rather then just come across as titillation .

While I have enjoyed this whole season, no matter what happens now, thanks to this episode I think the revival was a success.

The guy he pulled the hat and suit from had a shaved head and looked pretty non-descript, though it would have been cool if they'd somehow gotten Stuart Townsend to cameo as the corpse wearing the outfit.:)

This episode was a blast. Like a lot of you guys, I loved the lizard-man's flashbacks. Him being a monster that turned into a human after being bitten by a human was a fun twist. I did get a kick out of Mulder going over all of the stuff that has been disproven and it making him question his believes.
Was there anything behind the lizard-man being Australian? Did they just happen to cast an Aussie, or is there something behind it I'm not aware of?

New Zealander, actually. Completely different.

But I'm not sure why he took on the appearance and accent of a New Zealander. I get that it was probably a defense mechanism, like camouflage, that his species adopted to avoid predators. Maybe he got memories from the serial killer who bit him (who might've known someone who looked like what Guy Mann would transform into).

I'd like to think that there was a small horror/sci-fi con in the area, and the shaved head guy was cosplaying Carl Kolchak.
