The X-Files : Season X (Spoilers!)

A good start. It's been a long time since I've seen a mythology episode but it felt like they were making at least a little headway rather than spinning their wheels. Not much mind you but a little. And the powers that be are appropriately menacing and anger inducing. The X-Files is definitely back!

Ok, episode has some flaws but don't forget that this episode must be like pilot and like contiunation after 14 fuckin years. Overall, this is fine job and smoking man OMG hahahahha.

10x01...

I thought they would use the old opening credits but it does look out of place now that Anderson and Duchovny are 22 years older.

We also have the benefit of modern effects. Nice saucer crash.

For nostalgia

The newer badges looked too polish for the last seasons. Too glossy

There sure was a lot packed into this episode. This premiere captured the spirit and essence of the show when it was at its best, and I can't wait until tomorrow night to see the next one.

Nice to see Julian Assange and Edward Snowden in the flash cuts, and good old element 115...thanks Bob Lazar.

Wow, I thought that was actually pretty great.

So are they actually going to be changing the show's whole mythology, or is this just another fake out? The presence of you know who at the end makes me think it's the later, or perhaps some kind of a combination.

:techman:I thought that was awesome.

They recaptured the tone and feel perfectly. It's like it was yesterday.

I wish Mulder and Scully were still together, but we'll see....

We got Skinner and CSM. It's all good. I'm very excited for the rest of the series.

I don't expect them to solve anything but I hope and expect that this season will leave us in a better place rather than at square one. ...again.

I really enjoyed it. As someone who skipped the final season of the show and the last movie, I found it extremely easy to slip back into it. That's to Chris Carter's benefit I suppose, the episode wasn't perfect, but it did hit all the nostalgia notes for me.

Wait. This is on again tomorrow (Monday) night? I thought Ep. 2 was next Sundaay.

Tomorrow is moster of the week episode (sf horor) by veteran James Wong and then next week is most talented writer, Darin Morgan (Jose Chung, Clye Bruckman, Humbug).

I think they premiered the show today because they were trying to take advantage of the NFC Championship game. The remainder of the show will air on Mondays starting tomorrow.

Tomorrow night it is.

I'm curious if FOX (and in Canada CTV) will have the episodes online the day after like many networks seem to do now. I often miss shows like Murdoch Mysteries and Supergirl on their broadcast nights so I watch them online the day after.

Excellent premiere, and it looks very promising, unlike Heroes Resurrected (which should stay dead). Mulder and Scully are back and are up against a conspiracy of men working against humanity itself. This time they have an ally in a conservative political pundit who also believes in UFOs and government cover-ups. The truth is still out there.

Second episode airs Monday night, which I'm looking forward to.

My two favorite callbacks:

*Scully still works at the same hospital (Our Lady of Sorrows) that she worked at in I Want to Believe.

*When the old doctor calls Roswell "a smokescreen," Mulder replies "so I've heard" -- most likely referring to Deep Throat's own dismissal of the Roswell crash from waaaay back in the second episode of the series.

it was alright. a little heavy on exposition, but i guess that is to be expected seeing as its been a long time since we last saw Scully and Mulder.

I thought it was pretty impressive considering it had to act as both a follow up AND a pilot. A little silly at times? Of course. But it always was. I really dug it.
