The Wire, Season 5, UK tonight

A little reminder for any who need it - though I suspect that those who are into the show will be already aware of it - Season 5, the final season, of The Wire starts tonight. 10pm, on FX.

Irish viewers who don't have cable will be able to see it on Tg4 at 10pm on Monday 28th.

I've just raced through season 4 on DVD - indeed, season 5 will be the first i've watched on tv - and it was the best yet. Here's hoping it ends on a high.

I just got into this show on DVD (a shout out goes to mimic for that). Tore through season one, bought season two in a heart beat. Anyone know when season five is being released stateside?

That was certainly a cracking opener. Bunk's trick in interrrogating the youth at the start was brilliant. Lots of political shenanigans, with Carcetti having to deal with political and financial realities. I hope we see some of the Clay Davis trial. A welcome return for Michael and Duki - hopefully Randy and Namond will also be back. And Herc working for a mob lawyer? Brilliant!

And it's good to see McNulty off the wagon. Okay, he was a happier, more rounded person when he was sober, but falling-over-in-public McNulty is a lot more fun for us viewers!

Many of the supporting characters from all four seasons make a cameo apperance. There is even an undercover cop who ''broke'' a rule Bubbles taught Sydnor back in season one. A lot of loose ends, if not tied were shown to still be loose.

Ah, I only got throught the first season not too long ago and as our access to FX is intermittent, I'll pass until I've watched season 2-4.

Yeah, this is the first time that my DVD viewing has brought me up to date with what's airing on tv. Always was about 1/2 a season behind or so when the latest one started on tv. But it's worth holding out to see the whole series in the proper order.
