The weekly WATCHMEN episode sum-up

It’s not a ‘one or two episodes’ kind of thing tbh. I am not one hundred percent it sticks it’s landing, and it gets a bit rushed and muddled in the end build up....but it’s definitely very very good and worth watching. It works best if you have read the original, but the film also works to some extent alongside.

No, it didn't get the ending 100%. The show could have withstood one more episode to flesh out the "villains" so they didn't feel so two-dimensional in the end. The problem is where would you stick that episode without breaking the momentum that built up during the last third of the season.

Anyone who watched the first few episodes of Watchmen and found it “easy” to dismiss it as race baiting needs to take a good hard look at who they really are. But on the other hand, maybe they know exactly who they are.

Agreed, but I would extend that to anyone who uses that term and truly believes in it.

I was watching Regina King on Big Bang yesterday, and they almost set her up with Raj.

In the 80s set period series Black Monday, a month ago, a character played by Regina Hall is mistaken for Regina King, who was then famous for being an ingenue on 277, by an entire country club.
"Virtue signaling"?

I deserve applause for my wokeness. Clap dammit, I said the right things, so where is my claps?

Wow, given what this show deals with I'm kind of amazed it took this long for this thread to devolve into this kind of conversation.

I’m not totally sure whether he’s being serious or doing a parody of right wing commentators.

But it’s another form of “Nobody who cares about identity issues could possibly have any other motive than to show off how virtuous they are.”

When last year’s Emmy Awards were announced and there were no nominations for Watchmen, I was pretty shocked, but the Emmys passing over a genre showm especially one with the subject matter of Watchmen, really wouldn’t have been that unusual. I didn’t realize the show apparently missed the deadline for Emmy consideration for 2019.

The 26 noms definitely does not surprise me. I think Watchmen is brilliant and one of the greatest one hour dramas ever. From the writing to acting to the direction, and cinematography, the show is truly inspired.

Love the recognition for Abdul Ya Ya Mateen, an actor I’v admired for a while now, and Jovan Adepo, who was so great as the original Hooded Justice in maybe the show’s best episode.

Don’t know how many Emmys Watchmen will win, I think Best Limited Series is probably the only shoe-in, but the nominations really are what’s important here. Wow, well deserved.

I'm in shock that this and The Mandalorian got so many nominations, I can't think of any genre shows other than Game of Thrones that have gotten that many nominations.
