Sounds cool. Yes it does sound like a series based on 1997 film Contact.
It is written by John Shiban

Sounds promising. I'm a big fan of the Contact movie, but hopefully a series will allow for a more nuanced portrayal of the faith vs science argument (which will almost surely be a subject of the series), instead of the incredibly simplistic take we got in the movie.

I'm interested in anything that's showing on AMC, so count me in. Shiban has been doing good work on AMC's Breaking Bad, so perhaps that will have some weight towards getting this into production.

Wow, talk about taking sentence fragments from sources to the point that you lose all context. AMC PASSED on The Voyage. Yes, there is still hope because they're giving time to retool the pilot script, but as of now there is no show, only a script that was not even good enough to go to pilot.

It's good to know AMC is thinking of space-oriented sci fi. If they pass even on the retooled The Voyage, I'd love to see them tackle some form of space opera. A "realistic" near-future Mars colonization show would be my first choice.
