The Vorta have good hearing, but poor sight?

According to the Millenium trilogy

one Weyoun clone and one Kilana clone once shared a romantic relationship.....

:)

Of course what does poor sight actually mean?

Short-sighted
Long-sighted
Colour blind
etc...

As Weyoun did not see an explosion in space, I guess we can eliminate Long-sightedness, perhaps also Colour blindness.

The Founders are all about Minimum Viable Product with their genetic manipulation.

The Vorta are the biggest risk the Founders have to take, because the Vorta possess just enough free will to conceive of the notion of going against them. Weyoun was convinced to kill Odo once. For that moment, he thought his own assessment of the situation was superior to that of the Founders, and that Odo, rather than a God, was an enemy. So they are specifically designed not to be able to personally wage any kind of physical aggression against anyone. Poor eyesight, probably poor strength as well. This way if one does decide that the Founders are not Gods, they pose no threat.

^Except that it's rather human-centric to assume that eyesight is the only sense that makes an organism threatening. I've already discussed how cats' eyesight is limited in many ways compared to humans', but their senses of hearing, smell, and touch (through their whiskers) are extremely formidable and make them highly dangerous. (Plus, of course, they have superior night vision, so it's not a perfect analogy.)

But the point would be that all the characteristics of a Vorta could be inferior to those of an average Trek humanoid. Eyesight is just the one thing that Weyoun gets caught for, as he cannot see the thing being pointed at him; lack of a sense of aesthetics is another, although there Weyoun seems to volunteer the information when he could dodge.

Really, it may well be that the Vorta are inferior all around by design, for the reasons stated. Or that they are far superior by design, but lie about it. A mixture of both would appear less unlikely, but being truthful about an irrelevant weakness while lying about a tactically crucial one would make sense...

The hearing does make the Vorta very dangerous in diplomatic scenarios, particularly with their ability to command the Gem'Hadar to kill literally anyone who isn't a Founder.

It does not make them that dangerous to Founders, because hearing doesn't help them understand what Founders are saying to each other.

I have re-watched the extract where the exchange concerning Vorta’s poor eyesight takes place (in “Favor the Bold” episode). I guess, in terms of an eyesight imperfection this is a deficiency in stereo vision that is a result of underdeveloped visual skills such as stereopis and binocular depth perception.

Such a deficiency is not likely to impair their ability to look at consoles, tactical screens, or padds so their vision is pretty sufficient for the type of duties they have to perform. Predatory and combative species such as the Cardassians and Jem’Hadar have much better eyesight in terms of binocular visual skills. Diplomats, on the other hand, have to able to listen and analyze the intention and attitude behind the words, to discern the hidden nuances of meaning and to overhear casual conversations in the lobbies.

Vorta don’t kill anyone, they have Jem’Hadar for that. Weyoun clones were skilled diplomats, they managed to negotiate a nonaggression pact with Bajor and dealt with representatives from such powers as the Romulan Star Empire, Breen Confederacy, and Tholian Assembly. Weyouns kept an eye on the Cardassian leaders to make sure they are loyal to the Dominion. They were an intelligent species and applied force only when necessary or when the Founders required it. It is hardly their fault that the Founders were too paranoid when it came to solids. And the Founders had their reasons too.

Human-centrism always leads to conflicts because humans are hardly a benchmark for anything in a universe inhabited by so many different species.

Very true, and this is kind of addressed in that Treachery, Faith episode. Weyoun 6 doesn't deny that the Vorta's faith comes from genetic manipulation. He's just confused as to why Odo (and the humans he hangs out with) would see this as a problem. One man's manipulation is another man's design.
