THE VISTOR's future

It is interesting, when watching The Visitor, how different the future went. I wonder if this is an indication that they really had no idea where the Dominion Arc was headed since it seems, that when they finally get the Defiant back to go rescue Sisko at the end, the Klingons are still in command of the DS9...

That episode always makes me think about the Romulans.

Does The Visitor portray the Romulans as being in bad shape in that future? If so that would make the 2nd alt future time line to show the Rommies in dire straits in the future. The first was All Good Things. Taking those alt future versions and considering them with the assassination of the Romulan Senate in Nemesis seems to indicate a bleak future for the Romulan Star Empire. That's why I always liked to speculate that future guy, in ENT, should most likely be a Romulan. It was their last chance for greatness.

I hadn't thought about it, but yeah..proving once again that anyone who has a creative bone in their body could have helped Enterprise...not that it was a terrible show. But it just seems like it was spinning its wheel's so much..

But yes, the alternate futures do not look good for the Romulans...probably the after effect of Nemesis...it was so bad, and not even made yet, in contaminated the rest of the time lines...

The writers would have a general idea what they would want to try and achieve for the coming seasons in terms of the war with the Dominion, however for the purposes of this story that doesn't matter because it is an alternate timeline. In it Dukat might have been killed before he could make a deal with the Dominion, or maybe Cardassia surrendered to the Klingons or joined the Federation, who knows?

For the purposes of the story, which was Jake's journey to save his father that stuff doesn't matter because it doesn't matter to Jake, who is telling the story.

Or..they didn't plan as far ahead...that is a possibilty as much as yours I dare say.
