Remember when Batman 1989 was the biggest hit in the world so studios decided to chase the comic book money by making.... The Phantom, Dick Tracy and The Shadow?

I've noticed it's often the case that comics and games don't get a proper movie adaptation until they're old enough for producers, directors and the people running the studios to have been a fan as a child. Or at least for them to get what the property is supposed to be. There are definitely exceptions to this, especially now that Hollywood relies on comic adaptations, but Superman, Batman, Dick Tracy, Shadow, Phantom, Conan were all about 50-60 years after their character was invented.

They did eventually get around to the obvious choices of X-Men, Spider-Man and the Hulk in the 2000s, about 40 years after the characters were invented. The Daredevil and Iron Man movies were about 40 years too. Jonah Hex, 40 years. Even the Super Mario Bros. cartoon movie came 40 years after the character was introduced.

Barbie I do think is more known to the public than Betty Boop. What I would love to see is a sequel to "Who Framed Roger Rabbit.' called "Who Killed Roger Rabbit" and have Jessica Rabbit turning to a human cop to find the murderer. We would still see Roger Rabbit some in flashbacks.

^Yeah, I agree, plus Betty Boop was more of a thing in the 30's, a sort of pinup girl and symbol of that era. Seems kind of strange to be bringing her back when most audiences would be lacking context to her character.

Jason Clarke may be joining the cast of Heat 2. No word on his role but if he does, it would him the second John Connor in the cast
