The RoboCop: The Series wiki claims they were in negotiations with Peter Weller but that they fell through. I wonder how that would've played to the audience with how the show ignored RoboCop 2-3 and also had to rename a bunch of movie characters because they didn't have the rights.

You haven’t heard of Extraction? Or its planned spin-offs?
Nope! First I've heard of them. Maybe I'm just not the target market. But I do find it strange that if it's been successful enough to spawn sequels, I would think to at least have heard of it.
If you like action movies, I cannot recommend them highly enough.
