The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

From the Paramount/Skydance merger press event....

Top Gun 3
World War Z 2
A Quiet Place Part III
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin live action adaptation
Sonic the Hedgehog 4
The Angry Birds Movie 3
Matthew McConaughey as Mike Hammer
three different Transformers in development, one with Michael Bay
and Star Trek movies plural

Not a original show or movie at all it seems. I guess the Mike Hammer project sort of feels like that, at least.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin live action adaptation sounds interesting!

Been edging us for nearly a decade now, I don't think we'll see any for another decade for a fourth reboot of the same 2260's. :p

We'll be seeing a new Star Wars film in 2026, after a seven-year hiatus. With the change of management at Paramount, it's highly likely that Star Trek will be revived in the future, but it's still best to approach the film with a grain of salt until the cast is announced and filming begins.

there's been no information from the new team about what Trek projects they are thinking about. Whenever these articles mention Kelvin 4 or the prequel it's the reporters regurgitating old information.
They also need to appoint someone to lead the Star Trek films. (Maybe they'll extend Alex Kurtzman's deal with CBS by adding the Star Trek films Paramount Pictures will produce.) After appointing him, they need to review the Star Trek film projects along with the new ones.

You know what would be cool? Another Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film -- with the 1990's film turtles. They're older, more seasoned, and the third film s ignored. And they somehow talk John DuPrez into coming back to score it.

There are rumors, repeat rumors, of a "Cool Runnings" remake.

That wouldn't really be a remake, would it? If it's just another team, it's loosely a sequel (as in it simply takes place in the same unvierse, whether guest appearances by prior cast are made or not).
