The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

They had to have some kind of internal continuity with the series. And they did make a noble attempt at tying it in (at least with the first film) by bringing in a short cameo with Connor. If they treated the show the same way the movie franchise was treated, people would likely have stopped watching it after episode 3.

I quite enjoyed the series once it found its footing after a rather meh first season. I particularly liked the episodes filmed in Europe, which seemed to have a better quality to them.

If you overlook the ignoring of the original movie's ending it all fits rather nicely. Highlander: Endgame had it's issues, but I liked the effort to tie it into the first movie, bringing back Rachel and Heather. I have to admit the end had me tearing up quite a bit. Still does, actually.

Until the final season of course and they just ran through a series of spin-off ideas to see which would stick.

The team that made Tremors 1-4 got the rights back. They don't want to remake the movie or make Tremors 5, but they do want to bring back Kevin Bacon. So a new Tremors 2 that ignores everything else?

Joseph Kosinski is rumored to be up for a Miami Vice movie. No word on if this would be Miami Vice 2 or a second remake.

I think one of the reasons why Paramount hasn't made a Star Trek 'theatrical film' for years is because they discovered that they could make a Sonik film with the same budget and make the same money. But there's a problem there. Sonik is not their own brand. Anyway, I like Sonik films.

They can bring him back and still keep the other movies as canon if they want. Just ignore the ass-blasters if they want to just go back to the original big worm. I do know Bacon did already return once in a Tremors pilot that didn't get picked up. I also love the John Bernthal idea. Somehow I feel like you got to get Walton Goggins and or Danny McBride in the movie as well.

I don't know how right I am to write this here, but I think Microsoft gave the Minecraft live-action TV series and movie rights to Warner, and the animated series and movie rights to Netflix. They may have made an agreement that would allow anyone to make Minecraft animations, rather than just licensing Netflix for animation.

It might no longer be available, but Netflix did have an interactive animated Minecraft based on the Telltale game, so it's kind of come full-circle.

Huh... Makes sense that they are going the animated route with Stranger Things. The "kids" are getting far too old to continue getting away with playing kids, especially since the gaps between seasons are stupid-long. Smart move to keep the franchise alive.

From what I learned, the animation will focus on different characters and events in that town. and it will be anthrology.

NBC wants to bring back Royal Pains. At this rate, with the Suits spinoff and the talk about White Collar, might as well just bring back Covert Affairs, Psych, Monk, In Plain Sight and Burn Notice while we're at it.
