The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

According to Deadline Hollywood, Akiva Goldsman and Legendary Television are teaming up to reimagine Irwin Allen's 'Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea', 'The Time Tunnel', and 'Land of the Giants' as a shared universe with crossovers between the series
Be interesting how they blend. Especially Land of the Giants.

Not a reboot, but Amazon is dipping into the modern literature franchise well again and looking to turn the Jeremy Logan series (never heard of this character, to be honest) from Lincoln Child into a movie.

I am very fascinated by this idea. Hope it works out.

I'm a fan of the Jeremy Logan character and books. This could be interesting because the books themselves are all over the place. One sees Logan investigating a mysterious frozen creature in Alaska, another sees him in Egypt assisting an archaeological crew look for a lost tomb, another sees him investigating what might be werewolf attacks, etc.

I'm surprised they are adapting Logan and not Pendergast considering those books are the more popular ones.

Zendaya has been cast as Shrek’s daughter in ‘SHREK 5.’

Jason Statham is making The Beekeeper 2. Is there a sequel he hasn't turned down?

The Fast and the Furious
The Expendables
The Mechanic
Crank
The Meg
The Transporter

There's supposed to be a sequel to Spy but maybe too much time has passed. Homefront is part of a book series, but I don't think it made enough to justify a continuation with Statham.

He should have did Death Race 2 also.

That was DTV. Universal seems to be quite successful at franchising out their movies into a string of lower budget DTVs even if they're completely unrelated (Jarhead, Kindergarten Cop, Backdraft, R.I.P.D., The Scorpion King, Dragonheart, Tremors) that they have their own division which makes them.

It was also a prequel.

What are movies I've never watched, Alex?

They're gonna start all over so they can create the Nicholas Sparks cinematic universe. Does his name/novels still hold value? It's been a decade since they last made a movie based on one of his novels and they weren't hits/good toward the end.

Oscar Nuñez
from The Office is coming back for the spinoff, rumored to be titled The Paper.

I was today years old when I found out they made a sequel to R.I.P.D.

Big Finish have just started and audio reimagining of The Time Tunnel so they could lose those rights if the a streaming series goes into production (as happened with their Sarah Jane audios when the BBC started the Sarah Jane Adventures).
