The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

Oh, I agree.
what I was thinking was a back-to-basics show in new continuity (not a timeline reset). So it is just a USAF/USSF team find a StarGate and use it to explore the galaxy.
All aboard for this one.

The original movie was so fun, they went to a different galaxy, and it had a lot of potential. I love the series, but it ignored much of the film in favor of its own lore.

David Oyelowo is producing a new Rocketeer film (and may star in it). This doesn’t seem to be brand new information but it’s the first I’ve heard of it. I’d love to see this happen:

That would be interesting.... i love his take on it. I think that original was a great family film, definitely in line with Captain America First Avenger (which, of course by the same director). I might slightly disagree that Secord needed some "heavy lifting" as to why he was a hero... but the twist sounds really cool... i wonder though if they could fudge time a bit and place it 20 years after the original... Billy Campbell can make a cameo...tie it into the original a bit, but we can go with it afterwards?

Either way, i plan on seeing it now

Jack Frost the Michael Keaton family movie, or Jack Frost the so-bad-it's-good slasher-flick?

Or the David Jason character from a Touch of Frost :D

Without the link, I'd have assumed the family movie nowadays (which the link confirms) but it'd have been a bit wierd to see him as the detective from Touch of Frost.

CBS is going back to the well with another Sherlock Holmes series, only without Sherlock. Morris Chestnut is Watson, which takes place one year after Sherlock's death.

And it will be a medical mystery show AND a crime solving show!

Ugh.. was kind of hoping this Rocketeer reboot would die on the vine like the other ones.. boo..
Cliff Secord fighting the Nazi's or Nothing!
Kind of like the best Indian Jones films ( exept this last one) are him fighting the nazi's..

Sherlock died at 103

In the Holmes books written by Arthur Conan Doyle it is never mentioned when he died. Are there more good Sherlock Holmes books?
There are loads of “non-canon” ones as the Holmes aficionados call them. I personally like the Laurie R. King books, beginning with the Beekeeper’s Apprentice, featuring an older Holmes and pairing him off with a teenage girl called Mary Russell. But there are all sorts of takes on him - one of the first ones I remember reading was Dr Jekyll and Mr Holmes, while he has also taken on Dracula and even the Martians of HG Wells’s novels.

Anyone else forget that they were making a prequel to the Omen? Anyone else know they were making said prequel? https://www.thehollywoodnews.com/2023/11/17/first-look-at-horror-prequel-the-first-omen/

I want to laugh at this being rebooted again but I did the same about the TV series and it was fantastic.

Edit: oh wait shit that was The Exorcist (which I think is also getting rebooted again?) series. So I can freely laugh at this. I had no idea of this. A whole movie about knocking up a nun who doesn't want to be a nun. I think I saw this online...
