The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

Night of the Hunter is a glaring omission in my filmography. One I really should correct one of these days! Even so it's clearly one of those films that shouldn't be redone. I'm not going to get too worked up, likely it'll die a death or at best be terribly average and quickly forgotten (always assuming it actually gets made.)

I suppose as it’s based on a book, this is technically another adaptation, as opposed to eg remaking Star Wars or Pulp Fiction. I’m usually more relaxed about that than I am about outright remakes of an original film. But as with eg The Godfather, the first adaptation is so perfect that you have to wonder why anyone would bother. But yes, you’re right, if it gets made, it’ll probably be forgotten. And if it’s good, well that’s obviously a bonus.

Richard Chamberlain starred in an ABC movie of the week version in the early nineties. I'm sure no one remembers that but me.

The 2003 remake of Freaky Friday is to get a sequel. Maybe they should do like the forthcoming Karate Kid sequel and tie it in with the Jodie Foster version too.
Only if they also get Shelley Long and Gabby Hoffman from the '95 version. ;)

I think all body-swap movies should be set in the same universe. Freaky Friday, Like Father Like Son, Vice Versa, Freaky, and of course...The Hot Chick. (I know there's heaps more, but I'm too lazy to Google.) And I don't care that the "rules" of these films contradict one another!

I wish they would do something more creative with the idea. Sort of like they did with Freaky which was a nice way to do a unique horror movie. What if the President of the United States traded place with some teenager. Something like that.

Has to be the President’s kid.

I myself enjoy switcherooing Hermione Granger and Jane Hathaway in my fan fictions.

That would be awesome. I could go for him being the next Doctor and her the next Master. Or even if they did it reverse and She was the Doctor and He was the Master.
They’re probably too big for the tv show but if that big screen version that David Yates was to direct had happened…
