The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

There was at one point a limit established of thirteen lives, though truth be told that wasn't established until about fourteen(?) years into the show and mostly to serve as a plot point in one particular story. We have seen ways around the limit and in the past decade we've seen the Doctor can go far past thirteen lives with it recently being established they've had many many lives.

The point is though is it shouldn't matter to us if she is pretentious or smug. Only thing that should matter is if we like her acting and singing or the movie or tv show she is in. I hold her to same standard as someone like say Gina Carano, who is someone I don't think she should have been fired even if she was sometimes a asshole away from work to people. As long as your not breaking laws then all that matters with actors is whether or not they are doing a good job of acting IMO, unless they get so bad it is beyond the pale. General asshole behavior is not enough.

It's not like I am ever going to become best friends with Zegler or Carano nor do I suspect I would want to because their is things about their personality that seems a little off putting to me. But that should not matter in the viewer-actor on screen relationship . I mean it is nice when it seems like a actor seems like a cool and nice person like say Tom Hanks or Iman Vellani but that is just a bonus and also doesn't effect whether or not I will like a tv show or movie they are in.
 
Well, see, that’s the thing. Celebrities think that, because of their chosen career of acting (or singing or whatever), they know better than everyone else and that we should listen to them about all things. They lecture us, they demean us, they shame us and they demand compliance with their way of thinking, shoveling hundreds of pounds of bullshit down our collective throats. Political affiliation doesn’t really matter, though most of them are obviously left-leaning. They’re a privileged lot, and I really couldn’t care less about their opinions on anything. They just need to do their jobs, act their part and shut the fuck up otherwise.

Yes but ranting and raving about things and sometimes saying stupid things is like what most people are doing on the internet. If you go on the internet and say something or say anything anywhere you will at some point likely say something dumb or put your foot in your mouth. In theory anyways. It's never happened to me. My internet posting has been perfect and impeachable, but who knows. Someday, just maybe it will even happen to me. :)

Eh, I run across "resident experts" in just about every profession and at every social strata. They have opinions about a lot of things and aren't shy about sharing. The only difference between them and a celebrity is causes and organization will seek out the celebrity to be their face and voice, plus more people will pay attention. My friend the retail clerk, not so much.

Yeah, it’s pretty good. Gonna require recasting all round, though, unless they opt to go down the line of The Irishman and de-age the leads. Even if they did that, which I don’t think they’ll do, Kilmer sadly has lost his voice and would at the very least need dubbed.

I know we’re used to legacy sequels of late, but if this goes ahead, I’m trying to think of a comparable first sequel to such a critical and commercial success so long after the event. Imagine, for example that Godfather II (the novel Heat 2 has a similar structure, as you’ll know) was made in the year 2002, with a new cast.

People might disagree but John Wick is the best ongoing franchise right now. SW and the MCU have been having some struggles to put it kindly. Star Trek has had some good shows but Discovery was a big black eye and I feel like Trek is missing that special series. That show that breaks through with people who aren't normal Trek fans in the way TOS and TNG was back in the day. Fast and the Furious is on fumes and so maybe James Bond and Mission Impossible. Jurrasick Park movies keep making money but it's a weird franchise in that it literally only has one good movie in it and that is the first one.
 
John Wick is the movie franchise "Hitman" tried to be, but sucked at because (1) the adaptation was lousy, and (2) the object of Hitman is to avoid John Wick carnage, not create it.
 
You know if they wouldn't keep screwing them up I think GiJoe would be something that could be a very successful franchise. That is because you go so much diversity with so many Joe's with different skill sets and different personalities and backgrounds. You can do something with Ninja's and then War adventure on the seas using characters like Shipwreck and then do something with Marines rooting out Cobra double agents in New Orleans and focus on Gung Ho and then do a movie sexy romance/action romp with Flint and Lady Jaye and so forth.
 
I had to check that this wasn’t an April Fool’s Day story but David Fincher is directing Brad Pitt as his Once Upon A Time in Hollywood character in a film written by Tarantino but to be made for Netflix (QT has made clear his disdain for streaming films in the past).
