The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

Look, Turks don't value property and possessions very much. They mostly value people. If there are no deaths in such events, they only get upset about burning forests and people who lose their jobs and animals. They don't care about historical places and the burning of the houses of the rich.
You're still not getting it.

It's been reported that at least 10 people have lost their lives and most officials there agree the body count hasn't ended. It's not just about "possessions".

Why don't you do a little research before spewing some nonsense about what any culture "values".

I understand that people lost their jobs. There were forest fires in my country, people's houses and animals in towns burned. And then there was an earthquake 2 years ago that affected almost 10 of our cities. But in our country, it was not the historical places that were destroyed. People who were struggling to survive under the collapsed buildings were talked about. People were sad and could not eat or drink for almost a month. Look, the reason I understand this is that we do not have an industry that works like Hollywood, we do not have any animators like Hollywood, or special effects artists, and if there are, it is not known nationwide. In our country, a big house burning down for a rich person definitely does not make him lose money. Because he probably has a few more.

You're right, but it's 'Hollywood', and besides, I don't think the people who work in Hollywood, except for the set workers, care about the loss of the homes of famous stars or the postponement of the shooting of their TV shows and movies. Unfortunately, they won't care about the burning of historical places. They will only lose a few million or billion dollars.

I hope that the burned places will be repaired soon after the fire is over.
Pardon me, but as someone who lives miles from the Palisades AND Eaton fires, this is a load of utter bullshit and tripe. And I’m just a mechanical engineer who has nothing to do with the film industry beyond being a dedicated fan.

Every. Single. Fucking. Person. I know, include me, are all stressed out. We’ve been getting evacuation warnings up the ass. The air is clogged with smoke. My fucking found home is burning.

We care. Goddammit, do we care.

Okay, okay, I apologized.

I just tried to understand the situation there by looking at what happened in my own country. There is no need to be offensive, I understand that you are angry.

I'm only passingly annoyed, and not being offensive. I'm expressing an opinion regarding your somewhat lengthy rationalization-as-explanation.

Right, @oktay - it was fine to talk about film in the film forum despite the tragedy unfolding in California. It was unreasonable to chastise you for that and you started out with the moral high ground there, and but then it crumbled when you started this "Turkish people don't care about their homes" thing which I don't buy for a second. Infraction for trolling, comments to PM.

The swarm that have followed him up from the TNZ troll thread, you've been warned before about doing this. Drop it or more infractions will follow.

I guess part of the problem is the perception that all of LA is "Hollywood" and everyone is a star and every building historic. And of course the media tends to focus on those in it's reporting.

Dude I wasn't trolling.

@cultcross Can you explain what this is? I know what TNZ is. But how did they troll? Can you explain? I don't read TNZ. I talked by looking at the news I saw on Turkish accounts on social media. Everyone talks about famous houses burning down. They don't talk about how many people died. When I searched on the internet, I saw that some Turkish sites belonging to foreign media organizations stated the number of deaths.

EK: I understood what TNZ was by looking at old correspondence. It is an old title.

I don't want to prolong the subject. But have you ever had a Turkish friend? We too ''Cana gelmesin de mala gelsin.'' There is a saying that goes like this. If you want, look up the meaning.

ICYMI, Sony Pictures TV's president shared: "It is so frustrating. Those long delays are just absolutely untenable and they are not fair... watching 8 episodes then 2 years later getting another 8 is just not good ... we can’t afford to lose fans. It is hard enough to get them."
