The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

JURASSIC PARK had me at ''Objects in mirror--'' but lost me after ''-----are closer than they appear.''
I grow weary with cookie-cutter checkboxing more-of-the-samers. Now what's this I hear about Jim Carrey starring in SUBSTANCE 2 MUCH 2 BELIEVE?

BioShock movie aims to shoot in 2026.

There's a live action Barney the Dinosaur movie in the works that's shooting for a tone similar to Barbie.

They already made like 20 Bring It On sequels. Not sure we need another one but hey I am not going to object to a sexy cheerleader movie if they want to make one.

Universal has mastered the lower budget direct-to-video sequel-in-name-only that has nothing to do with the previous movie -- Bring It On, Hard Target, Kindergarten Cop, Inside Man, R.I.P.D., Cop and a Half, Honey, Jarhead (somehow a real-life story about not seeing combat during war time has three high testosterone action sequels). Somehow they got Billy Baldwin and Donald Sutherland to return for Backdraft 2, if you are interested in a firefighter movie without fires. Then they have their "continuing" franchises like Tremors, Dragonheart, The Scorpion King and Death Race.

Warner tried to get in on the action (including two Lost Boys sequels) but it didn't pan out for them.

A24 likely to win the rights to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

A Texas Chain Saw Massacre art film in our future? Leatherface returns home to his inbreed family after spending years away in France studying fine high class cooking at Le Cordon Blue. There his desires for elevating their working class cannibalism meals to a more sophisticated approach to cannibalism Boutique runs into conflict, bringing back old trauma's and the memories of the French lover he left back in France who shared his love for high class cannibalism meals and French Jazz music. Does he choose to abandon the family he grew up with or go search out a new life path with the love he left behind.

If they don't do a Jurassic Park parody right out the gate, I'll be severely disappointed.

A water bottle sitting on a table. The camera focuses in on it as ripples can be seen. Sounds of foliage rustling around as hints of something enormous and purple are seen through leaves. Suddenly the creature steps out and is confronted with a gaggle of kids who are all making a beeline towards him. "My My, I seem to have found some fearsome creatures! Err, hi kids! Who wants to play?"

Many might consider Hooper's original to be one already. I myself find it scary yet overrated, though it's obviously more ambitious than the entire Jason Vorhees output.

I'm surprised no one has tried to remake Hooper's second film, "Eaten Alive", which is, IMO, just as good, has a good performance by Neville Brand and has Robert Englund in his first onscreen role.

I've heard of it, but I never found out if it was theatrically released in my state, or whether it was scattered or regional. Not having its own sequels might be a strike against remaking it.
