The Ultimate New Series.

Given the perceived (real) world of late trek and the new movie being the beginning I really really doubt any new series (which I would guess to be many many years away) would be even close to TNG time wise.

Maybe finish the enterprises original mission and delve deeper into the timeline at the time in more (slightly) serialised detail.

There is a large gulf between TOS and TNG plenty of room for a series based around the end of the enterprises mission and life and the start of a more modern federation.

Hell call me biased I just want to see more excelsior on screen imho it looks 10x better then the enterprise.

Ok, enough borg, thats been established. Don't worry man, I'm facing the same thing in my Rebirth story I'm trying to start. So tell me more about these humans? Do they still believe they came from Earth? Or has that "drifted into the mists of time"

They've been fully aware of Earths existance since the day they were planted on their new world and since the advent of space exploration have been trying to find it, since the invention of warp drive they've even searched far and wide for it in the hopes that when they do finally find it they can conquer it and claim it back as their own. Now that they've found it they won't stop until they can conquer it.

Did I also mention that these offshoot humans (called The Alecteans) went through their own form of Eugenics era where the entire population of their planet went through genetic modification into superhumans like Khan Noonien Singh. Because these modifications made them more aggressive this is why the Alecteans are so expansionist, war like and militaristic like Klingons but they're also smart and are secretive like the Romulans.

Like I said above in a previous post it is hinted upon that these Alecteans are working on temporal technology and in the far future they are the ones responsible for 'future guy' on 'Enterprise'. Due to these Alecteans being advanced in genetic modification technology they use their advanced knowledge in the future to genetically modify the Suliban. ;) This is all only hinted upon in the new series and isn't actually focused on, what we do see aswell in the series other than the temporal technology hint is that the Suliban in 2401 live on a planet far from the Federation side of the Alpha Quadrant and is infact a subjugated world of the Alectean Empire and they serve the Alecteans, so we get to see the Suliban of the 25th century.

^That and the rest sounds like glorified fanfic.

If there is a new series then I would prefer it didn't mire itself down with so many referecnes to previous Trek's for no reason that anyone other than the most hardcore fan would be completely lost and lose interest after 5 minutes.

The show has to stay on air, gain ratings etc, its not going to do that following the same tired old formula that killed off Voyager and Enterprise. All the ideas I've heard from fans are much like this, just throwing together old Trek in so many ways its just the same crap with the same Trek brand.

Try something new for once.

care to give it a go?

Why? if I post it online all I'll receive for any work I do is hundreds of fans yelling for changing everything about their beloved show.

Last thing I want to have when I sign into my email every day is the sort of hate mail the nuBSG team must be getting from the Old-BSG purists.

Thats why I honestly don't care if Trek XI is a reboot, at least then its something different.

The series is set in the 25th century, the Federation has just aquired Transwarp and is pushing out into unknown space.

Meanwhile the Borg are busy rebuilding. We find out that following the virus and death of the Queen (in Voyager) a new advanced experimental Borg drone was activated and took control of the collective and eradicated the virus, this new male drone is far more human like in thinking and begins to utilise information aquired when future Janeway was assimilated. The Borg begin constructing a new class of ship and upgrading remaining ships with Transphasic torpedos, deployable armour and stealth technology. The borg begin to assimilate again in order to rebuild their numbers since a large percentage of the collective was destroyed by the virus and they begin reconstructing transwarp conduits. However the collective is far more fearsome, the new Borg leader is unlike any drone before, he begins upgrading Borg drones with energy weaponry and an extra method of assimilating, by shooting assimilation darts, he also assimilates planets by firing nanoprobe torpedoes into planetary atmospheres.

Meanwhile the Federation has come across a new race, a race that is unwilling to make any form of contact and who seems to be aggressive, no attack has been made against Federation ships but the newly discovered race is conquering pre-warp civilisations and is pushing it's territorial border closer and closer to Romulan space, the Romulans arnt happy and are currently suffering political instability, the Romulan military leaders decide to fortify their Empire and increase ship building capacity. (later in the series it is revealed the new race is in fact and offshoot of humanity, humans were abducted from earth centuries beforehand and planted on a planet far from Earth, these humans however evolved into an aggressive people).

Meanwhile a new advanced Borg Cube detects a Federation ship on sensors but instead of preparing for assimilation the Borg are ordered to fall back and not engage the Federation. It is revealed that the Borg no longer intend on assimilating the Federation, in fact it turns out the new Borg 'king' intends to assimilate the entire galaxy and leave the Federation until last. The Federation has been the greatest threat to the Borg to ever exist and the new Borg leader has no intention on giving the Federation the chance to destroy them again. During this time the Borg also launch an attack on the Dominion in order to assimilate their cloning capability, having assimilated a number of Vorta the Borg begin construction of a Borg cloning facility to begin cloning Jem'Hadar drones, as the Dominion begin to launch a counter attack the Borg forces fall back to Borg space and use the new aquired cloning technology to assimilate neighbouring civilisations.

Meanwhile following the borg attack on the Dominion the Federation begins to upgrade their ships with all the technology brought back by Voyager and shares it with the Klingons. They also fortify the entrance to the wormhole. The Founders request help against the Borg incase of a future attack but the Federation having realised the Borg wont attack them are unwilling to render assistance.

Meanwhile the 'offshoot humans' ships appear to have been upgraded with the tech brought back by Voyager, the Romulans believe the Federation has shared the technology with them but the Federation insists it is espionage, the Romulans consider it a lie and declare war against the Federation.

More to come later..... ;)

Too many meanwhiles. It also could be any SCI-FI series. There's nothing distinctly Star Trek about it. Its all about "updated technology" and advanced aliens. What about the people?

What he means is, and I agree, that if you simply replace a few key names or terms in that outline it could literally become any generic sci-fi show, theres no real character driven dynamic that the Trek shows possessed, theres not even really a mention of characters in there.

Its all super tech this, Borg that, fanwank all over the place, homages and references coming out everywhere, all flash and no substance as they say.

Hey, i've got links further up the thread to other threads and in one of them is a few episode ideas, as for Characters i've mentioned previous about the captain being Christoff Bennett (half human/half Al Aurian) and the doctor will be a new species who's species is immune to all diseases who's entire race specialises in medicine (her people have no homeworld and fly around in huge hospital ships and recently joined the Federation) in one episode idea i've got she contracts to everyones shock a strange disease and the crew must take action to prevent her entire species contracting it) as for the rest of the crew and more detailed character profiles give me a chance!!! ;) I was only giving a basic idea of what the new series would be about.

Wow, thats so much better, an entire race of Mary-Sues:rolleyes: not to mention I had an almost identical race in a casually written fic I wrote a couple of years back and the idea wasn't all that new or great then.

I'm sorry but for an "ultimate" series idea, its really not great at all, and shares too many ideas with hundreds of other Trek fanfics written every day.

and the people writing these fanfic everyday are usually the hardcore fans of Trek and clearly share the same idea of what the next series should be like, if you change Trek you might get new viewers but too much change and a lot of longterm fans might lose interest.
If you actually read everything i've put, other than the Borg comeback and the odd bit of continuity it's nothing like previous Trek, the continuity is merely the odd scene here and there like the Suliban showing their faces or a mention of temporal tech or Eugenics etc, it's just a little nod to previous shows and a nice bit of continutity for hardcore fans but that's it, everything about the show will be fresh, I mean for Gods sake dude we actually see the downfall of the Romulan Empire, we get to explore the Alpha Quadrant again and the possibilities there are endless, the enemy of Humanity is no longer an alien race but instead other Humans. As for your Mary Sue comment, for all you know her entire race dies off or they lose their immunity to diseases and must change their entire way of life from then on, the stories there are endless too.

Well reading through those summaries nearly every Trek race turns up and has some major part to play, all the five series are drawn together in some way, some old ideas and what new material there is isn't really attention grabbing or that new.

Can you tell me how much technobabble is involved, is there going to be a departure from the alien/ship of the week problem, is it going to tackle social commentary or a more mature character interaction, staying away from the perfect Human syndrome, what specifically sets this "ultimate" idea apart from the pretty good fiction series online, and from the shows themselves?

From what I see in all that text it boils down to "The Federation and The Dominion make uberships together, Romulans get annoyed and ZOMG! WAR! then the Borg turn up and attack everyone, but now they have a King!"

Usually helps if you don't scim it and read it in detail instead and like I said, it was a basic premise, it doesn't all just happen in one single season, it's panned out throughout several seasons and between the main storyline episodes there's chances for new fresh ideas and character development. Try using your imagination once in a while instead of just expecting the Borg to be in every episode, for all you know each episode focuses on a different group, for example the first episode (or first 3) is focused on the USS Hephaestus, the second group of eps focus on the Borg and the third group focus's on the Alecteans and so on and so forth. Thats never been done before on such a grand scale and could be pulled off.

Oh believe me its not just me thats had a negative opinion of this premise, I see a lot of people didn't even bother to read it, I wish I hadn't either now, time I'll never have back.
