The Ultimate New Series.

You lost me at "transphasic torpedoes".

Seriously, IMO what turned a lot of people off of Trek in the 90s was the overreliance on tech as a solution to every problem. Sucked all the drama right out of everything. "If we recalibrate the chronometric phased inducers to emit a tachyo-neutronic particle stream..."

This just sounds to me like more of the same. If that's what floats your boat, cool. But for me Trek needs to get back to basics (fully realized characters, compelling stories) if it's going to regain its bearings and succeed as mainstream entertainment.

Yet the tech seems to be a huge part of your pitch - so it does seem like technobabble is going to be a big part of the pitch.

Again - you've posted this huge synopsis, then just linked us to two brief descriptions of characters. My pitch had a lot of stories that could be explored by just using character stories - and we can't see that for yours.

At the moment, the pitch in this thread is wicked uber-ships, cool uber-weapons and massive space battles - and it becomes a question of "Why should i care ?" when you haven't tried to explain characters that people can connect with, as I did in my pitch.

tenmei, would you consider starting a separate thread for your own pitch? I wouldn't mind seeing some more ideas for it, and it would get more feedback that way. :)

Now that you mention it, this story does kind of remind me of Star Wars Episode 1.

How will you put all of this plot onto ONE ship? Don't forget, Star Trek isn't a multiple-POV-series, you're supposed to watch it from a specific ship's POV.

Well if I was given the chance to give more info I would, i've been too busy trying to defend my ideas from constant attack and ridicule.

Except, I've been inviting you to provide more information since my very first post - and others have asked about characters before.

Try taking onboard some criticism, it's all constructive - there's a decent plot in here somewhere, but you just info-dumped on people straight away with lots of meanwhiles. Shorten it to the notes on the first season, add in some information about the ship and tell us the crew - more importantly, seperate the notes into how they would be given across in episodes.

I have a new idea now anyway.

A Starfleet crew discover a 'Ring World' orbiting a distant star that has been abandoned for quite some time, upon further investigation they discover a working Iconian gateway. ;)
the ring world is turned into a Federation colony and the crew are sent on a mission of exploration through the gateway to other worlds throughout the Galaxy, to the far reaches of the Gamma and Delta Quadrants.

Good idea eh, nothing like it done in Sci fi before. :techman:

I wonder if such an idea would be allowed for a new series, or do you think the producers of Stargate would try and sue?

Don't defend anything, just post your ideas. You can defend/modify them after everything is posted.

Not only does that bear too much resemblance to Stargate it's also very reminiscent of Larry Niven's Ringworld. Also, wouldn't this ringworld be a lot like the Guardian of Forever, except it facilitates space travel instead of time travel?

That idea could make a pretty cool novel, though. However, Pocketbooks won't be willing to publish it if it doesn't contain series regular characters from one of the canon TV series or films. Keep working on it, though.
This idea is much more interesting than the first one.
