The Ultimate Fantasy... what would you do with 640 million?

JanewayRulz!

The Megamillions lottery in the USA is up to 640 million... that's 492 million cash value before taxes... a palty 320 million after taxes.

So... would you film another Firefly movie?

Or bring Janeway back for a Voyager miniseries?

Or find a way to bring Xena back to life?

Inquiring minds want to know. ;)

Pay the taxes, obviously, then put $100Million in the bank to live off the interest, and commision a Space Opera Series.

I'd be methodical and strategic about it. I wouldn't rush right over to CBS, bang on their door and demand they sell me the rights to make a Star Trek TV series forthwith! That might give a bad first impression and I don't want them to call the cops. :D

First, I'd revive the credibility of space opera on TV by making a non-Star Trek branded series, focusing relentlessly on making it a stunning ratings success above all other considerations.

There are many possible ways to achieve this, such as a small band of colonists fighting terrifying alien critters (The Walking Dead in space) or a complex, sexy, violent saga of interstellar politics (Game of Thrones in space). The "space prison" idea being bounced around in another thread also has possibilities.

Those ideas would work someplace like HBO, Showtime, AMC or FX. Or, I might also go more family-friendly on TNT or even the dreaded SyFy with an old-fashioned TOS-like story of a Starfleet-like organization patrolling the frontier of a future spacefaring civilization.

I'd look at a large range of ideas and whatever seems the most likely to take off as the Next Big Thing would get the greenlight. Once that's established credibility for a couple of successful years, then I make my case to CBS that they are sitting on a pile of money and doing nothing with it.

This way, not only would Star Trek be revived, but I would end up with a business that fills a niche that is not being served right now - not just the niche of space opera, but the niche of being willing to produce TV that is more than just me-too bandwagon jumping. Nobody else has a private fortune that they are willing to risk blowing on some crazy scheme, which is why nobody (except George Lucas) could do what I can.

I'd commission proper conclusions to be recorded for sci-fi series that were cancelled prematurely. However, only I would be able to watch these. I'd also store my urine in jars and wear Kleenex boxes as slippers.

I'd finalize my plans for world domination.

Oh wait....you didn't hear that.

I'd blow it on loose women and purchase the rights to make another Star Trek show since, for some reason, THAT seems to be the topic......

I don't really play the lottery very much, but for the sake of argument, if 640 million dollars dropped into my lap, the short answer is whatever the hell I want.

A similar thread was started a while back, and I was somewhat interested in boutique-ish movie theares like The Alamo Drafthouse. I still think that's a good idea, I'd love to have a small theatre with great amenities that runs old movies, genre or otherwise. Who wants to see Forbidden Planet on the big screen?

Oooh, yea, complete some prematurely cancelled Series. Not into storing my urine, though ;)

I'll trade you a copy of my Space Opera, for copies of Series Completions (If you'd completed the right Series)

What series would you like? I'll be in my screening room. Leave the reels outside the door and mind you don't trip over the jars.

Yes on the sci-fi series. Not so much urine and Kleenix boxes though.

Of course this would be after all the usual boring stuff House, maid, money to friends and family, medical care, ubercomputer update, investments, charitable donations...

Enterprise was just getting really good when they cancelled it.
Tru Calling, I would've liked to see more, the write up of where it was going sounded awesome.
More Farscape in general would be great
Firefly, toss out Serentiy and replace it with a a full season
Space Above and Beyond ended on a Farscape S4 type cliffhanger, so, another season of it would be great
To name but a few

First thing, a discussion with a top-end custom PC maker: "I want this, this, and this. And there's an extra $25,000 in it for if you can get it to me by tomorrow morning."

...and a ride or six on Virgin Galactic. Don't think I get could medical clearance to buy a trip on a Soyuz to the ISS. :(

300 Million for a filmed back-to-back-to back Mass Effect Trilogy (with a much better ending) and 20 million to simply make life good for myself, my family and my close friends. Hopefully making a bit of a profit off the movies, but if not, oh well. Least I got them made to my liking.

That sounds pretty good, I could see doing something like that. I don't know if I'm ambitious enough to try to do some series or whatever. Maybe a couple of low budget films for the hell of it and see what happens with the results.

TATV :scream: Yeah, I would have liked to have seen the birth of the Federation done properly. However, I'd probably want to start from scratch and forget that Ent ever existed.

I'll go with those except Tru Calling, which I've never seen.
