The U.E.S.P.A. Series of books...

Forget putting the book on your coffee table. Take it out and "read" it somewhere public. A bus, a diner, somewhere it would be seen and have the potential to blow minds.

Really digging the different captains from different ships vibe Lensman. Any thought to putting out something more substantial than book covers with a small description? I'd like a peek at that technical manual- like looking at a roster of the active captains in UESPA.

Thanks! Yeah, I remember watching Court Martial and seeing those high ranking officers and figured they were part of the previous generation of captains along with Pike, Tracy and Decker. There was just something fascinating about that, still is.

As for putting out something more substantial....like what? Writing stories? Not really my talent, and I find the brief glimpses more compelling in the sense that it leaves it open for each person to fill in the blanks.

As for the "technical manual".....Well it's really a gussed up cover for what amounts to a timeline of the stories. So it's pretty much episode titles and captains with some notes about who's serving with who so I don't have the same person on two different ships.

As far as the ships and tech....well this is where the imagination of each person steps in. There are roughly four generations, with a gap between the first and second generation. Or there should be, with the next three pretty much flowing into each other. For *myself* I generally imagine one main ship type for each generation in the pages of the books themselves. They look different on the covers because different artists have been hired to do the covers. Some may have read the stories, some may have been given a basic description, some may not have heard correctly, etc. I never really imagine the authors going into too much detail about the look of the ship aside from some basics. Then again, *you* could say that they're actually different ship types. Maybe each author wanted them different. Maybe the information got distorted as information passed from one author to the next and so on.

However no one else need hold to that point of view. I think that way because that's pretty much what we saw on Star Trek. We only saw Constitution class ships for Starfleet vessels and Starfleet seemed smaller while space seemed vaster and emptier. The idea of only twelve Constitution Class ship appeals to me. I've seen incredibly long arguments to the contrary and I'm not interested in rehashing them here, only expressing my own thoughts on the subject and leaving it at that.

I did model an exploration kit, there's an image somewhere in this forum, if not in this thread. I need to get that into a better form and send Redfern a copy IIRC.

So what's everyone using for image hosting? I haven't tried to log into Photobucket since their BS (I couldn't get in IIRC), has anything changed with them? Have they walked back on whatever they were doing? My images still seem to show here, so that's something. I can't remember how to link to my DA images, any help would be appreciated in that regard.

Anyways, would like to do another cover or two soon. Did some "book covers" for a fan film's audio productions, between that and work, time is hard to come by.

EDITED TO ADD:

Just out of curiosity.......what cover would ya'll like to see done next?
