If it's taking that long for everyone to get on the HD bandwagon, then the Next Thing will be well after 2012. You'll be ready for another TV then.

You'd better not be lying. If I find out you are, you're buying me lunch.
For five years.
Actually, I remember reading somewhere that the first High Definition signals were in fact broadcast back in the 50's!Thank god for that, although i was quite surprised to hear that guy state that HDTV was first shown 22 years ago.....![]()
Switch over has already started, they're going on a region by region basis, with the last region being London in 2012. Although they're currently in the process or reshuffling the multiplexes on Digital, to fit all the existing channels on 5 multiplexes, as opposed to the 6 they're currently on. Once that's done they'll begin converting the 6th to MPEG4 DVB-T2, and launching 3 free to air HD Channels, 1 being BBC HD, the other two are to be decided by aution I believe.Yeah same here in the UK. analogue TV is still switched on and to view thew HD channels that's are available you need to subscribe to them, and i think 2012 is the same date we have as you for total analogue switch off country wide.
^^^So i need to buy one of these freesat boxes to get these HD channesl, plus do these work with the same type of aerial that we use for freeview or would you need a dish, we cant put anything like that on the outside of the buildings, although we do have a cable/sat type commun aerial box that was just installed.
