Somebody suggesting a good way to get the masses to watch Star Trek was to have a huge parade convoy going through every city advertising it, with floats, celebrities, etc. I forgot the poster's name, and couldn't tell if he was joking or serious, but damn that was a funny thread.

Oh, jeez. I don't know who that was, but your post made me think of another old-time crazy: the guy who wanted us all to pool our money so we could build a full-sized, for-real Enterprise. On the ground, presumably, JJ Abrams-style. I can't remember his name, either.

I think it might have been the same guy, because I remember that thread too. All I knew what that his screenname was in all caps.

I haven't forgotten you. The sunshine wars were good times. Probably the time period where I had the most fun on the board (not just becuase of the sunshine wars, but a lot of stuff in general.) Ah to be a commie again.

I also remember when I used to actually update the Admiral's Lounge comic on a somewhat regular basis. Nowadays though I've just lost interest and all creativity.

I suspect that if you derailed threads with spam 50 times a day in multiple forums you might be asked to leave.

It wasn't that bad.

I'm with Mallory. It was. It was nauseating. It was like seeing a couple in public who would not just hold hands, but would french kiss, feel each other up, etc.

No jealousy about it for most who didn't like the behavior (not the couple.) Their public displays of affection were immature and went way over the line. They got very defensive when asked politely to dial it back.

If they needed to bill and coo 24/7, that is why chat and PMs are there. Others don't need to see things which should be private.
