Just 'cause they've got a book coming out doesn't mean you shouldn't continue your awesome work. Personally, I doubt they could come out with anything that would even remotely reach the ingenuity of your designs.
I would love to see you continue these!
OMG!!! These are fantastic as were the other Tardis exterior designs in the other threads and I was going to ask you in my book thread if you had planned on doing interior designs of the Tardis as book or not I would be interested in seeing them!
Just go for it and do your thing! What does some merchandise matter in that regard? Personally, i find it rather nice to see more than one take on mapping and explaining sci-fi techK; if things collide, i take, what i like from any source and ignore the rest (or find some explanation, why both things are true).
Less then 20 years before the beginning of the last Time War the first Type 91x TARDISes, prototypes for the Type 91, were created. Their default shapes are deliberately large and eye-catching - usually appearing to be gold space ships - massive spires of gold, with corkscrews at the tip and covered in spikes. The Type 91 would continue to be produced for at least the first 50 years of the Time War. They are equipped with a variety of weapons which can be launched from their Time Warp Silos including:
NOTE:Weaponry
- Earthshock Bombs consist of fission-fusion devices that create a tiny hole in the Space-Time Continuum. This creates massive amounts of radiation and intertemporal shock waves. These weapons were occasionally mounted on Type 40 TARDISes around the time of the Doctor's birth and were capable of reducing large asteroids to rubble.
- Time Torpedoes are also launched from the Time Warp Silos of a War TARDIS. It takes a little over 30 seconds for them to reach their target. When they detonate, their target is frozen in a microsecond of space-time for several centuries. These weapons are capable of breaching even a TARDIS's defenses.
- A Tuckson-Jacker Energy Weapon is based on the technology used in certain weather control systems. When set to broad spectrum, the Tuckson-Jacker Energy can tractor a TARDIS out of the Vortex and into real space. When set to pulse-mode, the Tuckson-Jacker Energy bursts are capable of penetrating a TARDIS Force Field. A successful hit renders both the TARDIS and the Time Lord operator incapacitated. Any Lesser humanoid species that was aboard would be killed.
- An Artron Cannon, which is capable (at point blank range) of killing a Chronovore or an Eternal. A more general form of this weapon includes the ability to release an omni-directional psychic blast of Artron Energy by opening a direct wormhole to the Prime Eye of Harmony on Gallifrey. The resulting burst of Artron Energy will kill any Timeships that are within the blast radius. The blast will also destroy any Chronovores in the area.
- A powerful Vortex Lance rounds out the offenses of a Type 91 War TARDIS.
Rassilon's Tardis:
As the ancient Black scrolls foretold, the powers and devices Rassilon created for subjugation and to conquer other races, were abominable..never the less, the Tardis specifically built for Rassilon in the ancient days was a Type 7, and was the only Type 7 Tardis created..it's sheer size and mass was unbelievable. Though not as advanced as some may have dreamed, the Type 7 was pretty advanced for it's day. The interior was majestic, and had ornate columns, and sculpted time lord statues, as well as giant Time lord statues holding up various parts of the ship, and included ornate laurel leaf symbols, and ancient High Gallifreyan text, in certain places..It was the control room that was the most intriguing of the type 7. The room was a large domed Panopticon, with a ceiling that was at least 17 feet high, and was supported by pillars all around. the center of the room housed a large console, which fanned outward in 3 directions..
above the console in a throne like setting was where Rassilon sat, commanding his ship and personal army about the cosmos. Rassilon's Tardis had the ability to open a large gateway to a weapons store within the Tardis, accessible through the massive exterior. The Default outer shell of Rassilon's Tardis was no less then a Massive Ornate and sculpted Monolith. Intimidation was a key strategy of Rassilon's, and worked more often then brute force, sometimes all Rassilon had to do was land the Type 7 Tardis on a planet and remain there silent for a few days, and the inhabitants would be so scared, they would give up!
Rassilon's ship carried a legion of Raston Warrior Robots, a contingent of Chancellery Guard, a science/medical crew of about 35, an engineering crew of 25, and an advisory executive crew of 15, and a council ruling class contingent of 9 high Ranking Time Lords.
Rassilon's Garage contained hover Tanks, and various warfare devices for planetary subjugation..including drones, and a planetary isolation field generator.
Don't you dare leave us with just this description. You HAVE to draw this beast now.
And you know, Rassilon probably upgraded his Tardis for the time war or had a modern version built for him with even more formidable features - probably including several D-MAT guns as its primary weapons battery.
a detailed design will follow soon enough, for now this is all I can give you guys a sneak peek of..
a detailed design will follow soon enough, for now this is all I can give you guys a sneak peek of..
But surely Rassilon would've had a new Tardis built for him for the time war based on his old design but with state of the art time lord technology... and why not with offensive weaponry? It would be his 'flagship' after all.
Also considering Rassilon's ego, I think it would be fitting for him to enable his Flag-Tardis to materialise in its true expanded form for intimidation purposes. (you may disagree)
Oh yes indeed, Rassilon does have a new Tardis commissioned, though I doubt he ever uses it but to observe the battlefield of the time war early on..I can't see rassilon himself fighting with a tardis, unless he knew he could win without harm to himself.
I don't know about that... Rassilon being biologically immortal and creator of the Eye of Harmony, with his extreme megalomania on top of all that leads me to think he believed himself a living omnipotent god.
I see evidence from 'The End of Time' pointing to this also. Remember he said: "I will not die!". In the context of the time lady's treacherous suggestion, what Rassilon meant was that he would not choose death. He also lead the return of the Time Lords to earth to confront the Doctor and the Master, both of whom were possibly considered the most dangerous beings alive next to himself and Omega. In my mind, this was hardly a man who thought anything had the power to threaten him. After all, It was his overconfidence that led to his destruction.
And how better to demonstrate one's overconfidence than by materialising onto the battlefield in a monster of a war Tardis, dwarfing entire fleets and erasing whole Dalek planets with D-Mat guns?
Now I left out the statement that the modified De-Mat weapon was implied to be the "moment" in the end of time..I seriously doubt that.. considering that the De-mat doesn't burn enemies in fire, rather just wipes them out of existence..similar to the crack in the universe seen in the current doctor who series..The De-mat Gun was a powerful weapon of the Time Lords of the planet Gallifrey. A remark by Borusa implies that Rassilon had at least a hand in its construction or design. It could remove the target from space-time. The gun could not be armed without the Great Key of Rassilon.
As Lord President, the Doctor used the De-mat gun against the Sontaran leader Stor and his remaining troops in the Capitol on Gallifrey. The gun apparently vaporised itself, leaving only the Great Key. The Doctor could not then remember the last few days. (DW: The Invasion of Time)
The Great Key was lost at sometime into the War, necessitating the Time Lords to research further more destructive weapons. (EDA: Alien Bodies, The Ancestor Cell)
Toward the end of the last great time war, the Doctor was imprisoned for over a month on an unknown planet with a Malmooth named Chantir, it was later revealed that the Doctor had planned his imprisonment to infiltrate the prison and steal The Great Key when it arrived on a transport. After escaping with the key, the Doctor explained that The Great Key was once part of a weapon called the De-mat Gun, a weapon that could "...remove something completely from time and space."
When asked if it would "...become another De-mat Gun... a weapon of destruction...?" the Doctor replied "Yes. But not as small as a gun. The De-mat Gun removes people from time and space - one at a time. I may need to create something that removes millions from time and space - at once. This key will lock the Medusa Cascade forever - if we need to." (IDW: The Forgotten)
It is unclear whether the doctor created a superior De-mat Gun which could wipe millions from time and space at once (by locking the Medusa Cascade or not) or if The Great Key alone could lock the Medusa Cascade (possibly wiping millions from time and space). (IDW: The Forgotten)
I think that all in all, by time of the mass produced type 103 Tardises, Rassilon was more interested in concocting some powerful weapons and directing attacks from his bunker on Gallifrey, and researching how to commit the final sanction and make everyone ascend.. in the event of the time lords losing their war..During the Last Great Time War Rassilon possessed a gauntlet which could be wielded to much the same effect. He had used it to disintegrate a Time Lady who had expressed that maybe the Time lords had lived too long.(DW: The End of Time)
I think that after the events of the end of time, the Master ended up with an alternate reality split of himself, which joined Rassilon earlier on in the Time war, an this variation inside the time lock became the war king, but was derived from the battle on earth, when he was sucked into the time war while trying to kill Rassilon..when the connection severed, it split the Master since he was not entirely within the path.. and sent a part of him into the time vortex, and the other part, was sent somewhere in space and time outside of the time war time lock (to be seen again)..During the Faction Paradox arc that runs through the Eighth Doctor Adventures, a character known as the War King is featured which is implied to be a future incarnation of the Master. The character is also referenced in The Book of the War, published by Mad Norwegian Press when the Faction Paradox stories spun-off into their own continuity.
Gamma ray bursts are not fun things *shudders*
^ That's always been my fear of themI wrote it into my Superman fic that is what caused Krypton's death was that Rao went supernova and caused a gamma ray burst that destroyed everything in the solar system.
