I never said you'd have to hide out forever. Just disappear for 6 months while you get everything settled. After that, you can try to go back to your old life. Chances are good it will have changed a lot, though. You'll also find out real quick which friends and family member actually care about you and which ones just want cash. That's why I advocated the idea of telling everyone at the start that you aren't a bank.
That being said, you can act like a business. If someone needs money from you, you can give them a chance to earn their pay. For example, I'll need a house-sitter for my new house while I'm on Active Duty. I'd happily hire my best friend and his wife to act as my housekeepers. They care for the place while I'm gone in the Army and I give them $100,000 a year to essentially live in my house. They can still have day jobs too, if they want. They won't even have to worry about the bills and real estate taxes. The lawyers will handle that for them.
Be careful. If word gets around that you're willing to pay other people's bills, you'll never get a moment's peace.
Yes, I remember. Last I heard, he was fighting with people in court over the money for some reason. I want to say he was divorcing his wife but, I can't recall if that's true or not.
Why would I want to alienate all my friends and family, and go huddle in a missile silo caressing my money? I WANT to be able to help my friends and family. Money is not an end to itself. I would set up a philanthropic trust to help people. No one needs that much money for themselves.![]()

well, if its over 20 million, put about 10 million in a bank account, then invest the rest in a company like SpaceX. If it were in the 100's of millions, sock about 50 million to live comfortably, then form my own company like SpaceX, hopefully with a complementary product.
Also, having money by myself would not be fun. I would spread my money around to VERY close friends and immediate family. Probably things like wiping out debt my friends have and making sure my parents are comfortable.

Anyone remember that guy who won like 250 million? He was already a millionaire from construction if I remember correctly. Well this guy dumped all sorts of stuff on his granddaughter and she ended up overdosing on drugs. The last I heard about him was he got robbed of like $300,000 while he was in a strip club. I think somebody broke into his truck and stole it.
