The stigma of being a virgin loner (must end)

Stouts exist in a beer class all their own. I'm personally not a Guinness fan, though I like other stouts. I work a microbrewery now, though, so I've been spoiled.

Yes, red wine can have health benefits, but those benefits don't come from the alcohol in the wine. Beers rich in hops, as well as stouts, have health benefits as well, but those benefits also don't come from the alcohol.

You can get the same benefits of red wine from other sources that don't require consuming alcohol.

Hasn't that whole red wine is healthy-thing been debunked?
There is afaik a small health benefit from moderate intake of small amounts of alcohol, but that can be any kind of alcoholic beverages.

Are you in a position to send sample-packages around the world?

:p

It's more like "the anti-oxidants in red wine are good for you," but you can get anti-oxidants from all sorts of things.

Sadly, no. We are, however, expanding and will soon be selling our beer in stores. Who knows? Maybe one say we'll get big enough to sell stuff overseas!

I'm a light beer person, though I have been looking at trying Guinness.
Do yourself a favor and make sure it's from tap.

Never ever drink Guiness out of a bottle or (eh Gods!) a can.

I don't drink it myself, but I've heard from my bartending days that the cans are actually vastly superior to the bottles. They have a weird ball inside them that is supposed to make them pour like it's on draft.

I think the conclusion to a study they did here was along the lines of: People who habitually drink red wine also habitually happen to lead healthy lifestyles.

could be. I thought it was the anti-oxidants, but now they've been saying that their benefit has been over-hyped. All those blueberries for nothing!

but seriously, nutrition science is in its infancy. They'll figure it out someday.

They are actually very good -you'll still need a pint (or half liter, as it were) glass though.

They make a good packed lunch too, btw.

I like Guinness, but there is a small pizzeria not far from here which have an Italian stout called Carbone (coal) which is absolutely delicious.

Also called "Italians". ;)

The brewery where I work makes something called Uncommon Stout, which has a strong coffee flavor to it. Behind your standard Bud and Miller products that you find in bars, it is the top-selling beer in our region. And it's fucking delicious.

"virginity pledges" just amuse me. It's a way to feel self-righteous about something that has no moral component to it. Whether one engages in consensual sex or not is a choice that involves only the two people that would be doing it. It hurts no one, and doesn't make you less "pure" or "noble" if you have sex.

It's like bragging about making a "no alcohol" pledge. You don't want to drink alcohol? Ok, that's fine. But don't expect others to be impressed by your stand.

Er, alcohol's a poor comparison, considering alcoholism.

I don't know any recovering alcoholics who act superior to people who drink responsibly. I think that's the issue here, people signing these pledges and thinking they're better for it.

yes, that was the point.

Nobody but me would ever have reason to use my laptop.

And it's no different than reading a magazine while on the pot!
