Spoilers The Starfleet Museum

What ships will we see in the Starfleet Museum?

But the Museum scene was never going to feature background ships from Discovery. It was purely about nostalgia for the TOS/TNG eras.

Yeah I think it's more purely nostalgia for hero ships of the franchise, which is fine.

This. Nobody has nostalgia for the DSC season 1 ships. Even if the two production companies talked to each other, we weren't going to see Cardenas's, Magees and Walkers.

Now, the nostalgia factor for some of the actual ships that they did use is questionable too, but that's another story.

There were some Discovery worker bees in the new spacedock.

And I remember the lead set designer talking about coordinating with Discovery so they didn't accidentally use 32nd Century furniture in the 25th century.

One would assume most of the Klingon War era starships were destroyed or refit by the 2270s, so few if any would be around to even be in the Museum.
I don't think that really follows considering they already have two of the Akira on display in 2401 when the class is not even half a century old, and many must have been destroyed during the Dominion War.

Also the Starfleet Museum, at least the one seen in 2401, was not even built yet. On can imagine there being another site that predates the Earth Spacedock being moved out there.

And some of them are even still in service, right alongside their newer version, the Alita class.

I really wish these Trek producers would stop having such a hardon for that ship. Not one, but two Akiras in the museum when they could have used more nostalgic ships like the Franz Joseph designs or ships from FASA.

I'm 95% sure the second Akira was a VFX mistake, the Pioneer was meant to be in that spot, and it was in Episode 9/10.

The second Akira was not a VFX mistake, it was added in as an honor to Anne.

It was a one episode flash and replaced with the pioneer the next time.

President wasn't enough for him. He asked for the office of Supreme Leader. Sadly it got vetoed. With a wink that it'd later be passed and don't take offense, Mr. President, it's just a joke veto.

Still, they could have had at least one ship present from the same design era as the Kelvin. Would certainly mean more then just another Akira.

I suppose people might have some nostalgia for that ship, considering the amount of moviegoers who went to see that film in 2009. I myself wouldn’t have minded seeing it either, and definitely instead of an Akira, which I have zero nostalgia for. But I still think they could have come up with better choices for half the ships they used, even with the Kelvin notwithstanding.

Terry said the show was ready to air as far back as September, so unless they went back and re-rendered the scene after she died in January, I doubt it.

Like it was mentioned above, you can't even read the name, so they could name the ship whatever they want after the fact, so they decided to retroactively (from a production standpoint) rename it after Annie.

The ship was specifically named in honor of Annie, so it was deliberately there. However I imagine they just renumbered and named a ship they could do quickly and swapped it out for the Pioneer. The Akira film was probably the easiest to swap without it being one of the hero ships that needed to be immediately recognized or one that would be focused for the scene with Seven and Jack.

How could they name it in honour of her because of her death before she died?
It's more likely they renamed it after her after she died.

Dave Blass did it with the ship named after Greg Jein.

They pulled the Pioneer model from the shots it would be seen in and replaced it with an additional Akira with the name and registration changed. I think that ship can only be seen in Episode 6. By the time they go back I think was after the funeral, and that extra Akira was swapped back to Pioneer.

Yes but Terry said the show was completely finished in September, it was ready to air, which would mean the VFX would have been done before Annie died, so the ship was named after her posthumously.

You also can't even read the name and registry on that Akira in the episode.

The renders posted on Dave's Twitter aren't renders of the show used models, they're done after the fact specifically for his twitter posts.
