The Star Trek Encyclopedia

Does anybody know where a person can order the latest version of the Star Trek Encyclopedia for less than $100? Under $50 would be better. All the ones I'm seeing are in the thousands.

Thank.

It wasn't cheap when it was new... $80, IIRC? Two volumes.

I am very curious how they'll handle Discovery should another be made.

I’m seeing copies on eBay for $800-$1000. Amazon has third-party copies at $3000-$5500. Yes, that’s right. And they haven’t had copies at list price for nearly two years, IIRC.

So, it went OOP almost immediately, and didn’t sell many copies. It became an instant collectible. Makes me wish I’d complained about the minor damage my copy suffered when Amazon shipped it in 2016. Maybe they would have sent me an undamaged copy!

I was hoping for an e-book version, but that never happened, either.

Unless you can get the Encyclopedia dirt cheap, it is not worth buying. There is more information at Memory Alpha and it is constantly being corrected for errors, unlike the STE where errors were carried over. (I had the two volume set.)

I bought the last version back in 1999 or even early 2000 at a sale but I wouldn't want a version that added ENT and especially DSC to be honest! I like the projected early versions of the Federation ships which were much better than what we saw in ENT! :techman:

Doubtful another would be made, Memory Alpha has become the online dictionary (once you wade through all the ads and banners).

I wouldn't rule out another run coming out at some point. A reprint of Stellar Cartography was just published so it's not impossible.

I never got around to ordering the Encyclopedia. It would have been nice to have but it's hardly essential in the era of Memory Alpha. Besides, it was out of date as soon as it came out, because it didn't include Beyond.

The thousands? Ridiculous, it was just released a couple of years ago. This was one of those purchases I was holding off on until I could get it at a cheaper price! :scream:

Memory Alpha is all you really need.

I already given away my first 3 Star Trek Encyclopedia Reference Guide books years ago.

Now the newest one, I had originally ordered on Amazon but then cancelled it as I decided to not get it. Now they jacked up the prize up to 400 something. Terrible.
