Thanks! I like both of the creatures! I don't know what the complaint is about.

I thought they were very convincing as alien creatures... They looked better than the dogs in makeup in ST6.![]()
But the behavior of the anus-mouth in particular doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Why would it throw away the big furry indigenous critter to chase after an itty-bitty oddity like a human being, for starts?

I guess other than the fact that we know these creatures don't really exist, what is "fake" about them?
That they don't overtake and eat James Kirk in about .3 seconds, for one thing.
They look great and move completely believably, but the behavior of the anus-mouth in particular doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Why would it throw away the big furry indigenous critter to chase after an itty-bitty oddity like a human being, for starts? Unless it's had bad experience with Scotty coming around and pissing in its cornflakes or something and it's just personal now.

Y'mean there's a reason?!?![]()
You just wait for the deleted scene called "Enter The Snotty Tar Man". You'll see.I'm sorry. Unless the monster is a roughly man shaped pile of tar and snot, I'm not buying it.
Thanks for the clip!
I dunno, the first one looks kinda blaa to me, kinda like everything else out there, you know? I'm not wowed.
The second one, the big one, is really weird looking, and I like that. Coloring aside it is one of coolest starwars-style monsters I've seen in awhile. And you know what, I really don't have a problem with over-the -top creatures in star trek. Everyone is always talking about tydierian bats and devevian slime devils and whatever, so why not, lets see one!

I do like both creatures but I actually prefer the first one. We have not had a history of cool looking creatures in Star Trek so it is enjoyable to see Trek get some interesting looking creatures.

Yep, I was agreeing with everyone, meaning we've come a long wayfrom dogs in makeup, in ST:VI and whatever that thing was on the bridge of the Klingon ship in ST:III.I thought they were very convincing as alien creatures... They looked better than the dogs in makeup in ST6.![]()
Let's get a dose of reality here...ST has never, ever, ever had any movie animals (monsters if you will) that have ever looked like this. Its Trek film making on a new level.
RAMA
If that's not shown during the credits I'm retroactively boycotting. You just wait for the deleted scene called "Enter The Snotty Tar Man". You'll see.I'm sorry. Unless the monster is a roughly man shaped pile of tar and snot, I'm not buying it.

Well, I do think this is perfectly in the tradition of Trek, I mean we had a number of 'monsters' on TOS, and even in the modern shows we had some, for example the creature Picard and Dathon fought in Darmok, the dinosaur/dragon in VOY's Basics and a brief scene of Archer & T'Pol being chased by a carnivorous Sehlat in The Forge.
But I agree that this is on a different level.
Quite right! A day without Snotty Tar Men is a day without sunshine. Or something. If that's not shown during the credits I'm retroactively boycotting. You just wait for the deleted scene called "Enter The Snotty Tar Man". You'll see.I'm sorry. Am I the only one who thinks the CGI monsters from the "Lost" clip preview, looked bad?
