"The Simpson's" 24 hour channel?

Speaking of The Simpsons, tonight's season premiere was depressingly unfunny. I didn't laugh until the first commercial break.

There were some moments of wit later -- the Taiwanese news recreation, the autotuned video, the Kim Jong-Il musical -- but they weren't anything intrinsic to the characters. They were just random moments chucked at the screen to see if they stuck, and as moments they were far too rare.

And I'm not sure how Marge's solution at the end is really a solution.

Pretty poor.

It seems like a Star Trek network would be much more realistic. The shows, films, documentaries, talk shows, etc.

I did just think of something though. They could play the episodes with their DVD comentary sometimes. In fact that could work with a Star Trek channel as well.

I love the idea of showing episodes with their commentaries, but you know there's some rube out there that wouldn't get it and would complain about "eggheads ruining the story".
