I missed out on several episodes, but I'm really happy that the show was renewed, not just because I love the books, but also because I liked what I got to see.
Apparently it had the best ratings of any new show on MTV this year.
Season 2 will be moving to Spike TV. I'm a little surprised about the move since it seemed to do pretty well on MTV, but Spike does seem like a better fit overall. I wonder if the move will bring about any changes in content level or tone?
Viacom is overhauling their cable network division, choosing to position the strongest of their nets as an ''A'' team of sorts (Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central, BET, Nick Jr. and Spike-to be rebranded as the Paramount Network in 2018), while the others (VH1, CMT, Logo, TV Land) relagated to Jr varsity status. Scripted programming is also being shifted to a handful of those main networks from now on.
We have our first real trailer for season 2 and a release date, October 11th.

Looks good to me. So is this a completely new story unconnected to the books?
Do how much Manu Bennett is going to be on Arrow, and if it will have any effect on his role in TSC?

I'm pretty sure TSC was filmed months ago, so Manu should be good to go as far as Arrow is concerned.
With regards to the content versus source material of Season 2, my understanding is that they're indeed working off of a largely original story idea, although I wouldn't be surprised to see elements of the novels incorporated along the way.

Well, it appears from the trailer that they are at least going to incorporate the Sword of the Shannara. I'm hoping that at some point, we might even get some flashback's to the time of Brona and the war, but I'm guessing at most there may be some references in dialog, nothing more.
Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing how this visual version of the Shannara universe continues to find its own voice.
And show us some dwarves; I don't remember seeing dwarves in Season One.

Judging by the awesomeness of that trailer, I'm going to have to give season one another try. I think I was too quick to write it off after the fourth episode. It's been so long that I don't even remember why I stopped watching.
That's odd. Reading back in this thread, you said in post #55 that the fourth episode was the one that "officially hooked" you after you'd been lukewarm about the first few (you were turned off by the violence and the contemporary language). It does look like you kept watching after that but quickly got bored with it again, although you didn't go into specifics, just trailed off posting.
Sometimes I start watching a show and then stop for no reason. Remembering the episodes I did watch, it wasn't all that violent. Nothing compared to Game Of Thrones. The Dadga Mor really freaked me out though. I hated looking at him!
Contemporary language... I don't know why I made such a big deal out of that.

Season 2 starts tomorrow! Just a friendly reminder. 
Oh crap, I totally forgot. I actually took a break from rewatching Season 1 after my last post to finish up the last seasons of Gotham, Supernatural, and Once Upon a Time. I've got other stuff to watch tomorrow, so I'll probably go ahead watch the premiere tomorrow and then finish up last season on Thursday.
But then you’ll be confused. Better to finish season one and watch the premiere later.
