The Sarah Jane Adventures S3 Discussion Thread (UK Pace)

I'm 10 mins into the episode. The TARDIS sounds seriously ropey. Loved the bedroom scene with SJ and Luke. Very sweet.

this episode is pretty much what I thought it would be, shame the CGI slug has not improved its CGI, its looks very fake, even by SJA standards.

the ending was great, everything else just average, but I expected this, as for the TARDIS, yes it does sound sick, but I did wonder if it was the Trickester trying to block it, unless the Trickester wants the Doctors, hence he set this trap.

Another vote for the Trickster interfering with the TARDIS.

Very sweet episode in many ways with some lovely references; Metebilious 3 etc. Does Nigel Havers ever actually age though?

Mr Smith and K9 are so Zen and ORAC it's untrue, I demand an episode where it's just the two of them arguing in the attic...the only way they could possibly make the link more obvious would have been if Armstrong had done K9's voice as well

Ah Mr Tennant, I hadn't realised how much I'd missed you till you showed up...still not quite time to regenerate yet!

With Sarah Jane trapped in time anyone else think there's a nod to Sapphire and Steel?

I haven't watched it all yet because I had to get to work, but I did fast forward through to the relevant bits. I have to say I loved it when Luke said "You brought the dog?" and then again when The Doctor appeared and K9 shot out saying "Master!".

Can't wait for part 2.

Clyde and Sarah Jane...now that would be fun to see!
have you seen the YouTube Staceys Mum video?

I thought K9 calling Rani, Mistress Rani was chilling, as im sure theRani was called that.

not to mention the video on the BBC website where she says she would like to be able to regenerate.

Well this proves it then. They're definately working with a superior selections of writers this season. I doubt they could have pulled off a story like this in previous seasons without a lot more eye-rolling scenes. Although, I think they laid on the sappy music just a little TOO thick at times.

* Well I guess that settles the whole 'Has the Doctor met the Trickster before?' question.

* OMG, as a fan from back in the 80's this story just screamed 'sappy romantic fanfic!' to me. The wedding scene in particular. :) Except of course they'd replace Ten with Four.

* Loved the before bed scene with Luke, and heck, Sarah Jane in love was just so damn sweet! Though I can see a lot of viewers feeling bored, I loved it.

* Struck me a bit odd that Sarah never noticed the materialization sounds.

* The bit with the alien in the box was just plain lol funny! Another sign of better quality writing. And yeah, the cg was off, but to me that just added to the humor.

* Hmmm, am I crazy or have we seen that black with white flowers dress Sarah was wearing before? Maybe even as far back as the original series.

* At the proposal, I was all ready to say 'wait a minute. in a proper relationship you don't go agreeing to marry someone when you've kept so much secret'. But thankfully the writer was on top of it with the old 'mind control wedding ring' trick. :) I figure Sarah was just too dazzled by the moment and just blurted out 'yes'.

* Hmmmmm, that scene with Luke and Rani outside the church. Could they be setting us up for something developing between those two?

* Awww, and bless the writer for thinking to namedrop Maria and the Brig.

* Anyone else get a slight Pertwee vibe off that guy? Maybe it was the nose.

* Kinda wish I hadn't seen the spoilers on this one. Would've been fun to be shocked when the eyeless one turned up. What a great entrance! The Master would approve. :)

* Sadly though I can see where this is headed. Someone is going to have to sacrifice themselves...

The one outside the restuarant and right after she left Lukes bedroom being the best examples.
its a wonder that Mr Smith doesn't keep a look out for the TARDIS, im sure something that large opening a hole in time & space would be noticed by him, almost anywhere in the world, yet alone London.

I'm looking forward to this afternoon's episode (obviously!). I was really interested to watch Sarah Jane's feelings towards the Doctor. I thought she sounded a bit bitter or sarcastic when she asked Luke where she was going to send the Doctor's invite. I think she's over him, though.

I was thinking about it last night, and I think the various points the Doctor tried to land the Tardis, it was blocked by the Trickster, and never materalized for Mr. Smith to pick up on it. Also, I'm thinking Sarah Jane wasn't actually in ear shot everytime the Tardis tried to materalize, and was fixated on the wedding so much that she completely forgot about it. I noticed after re-watching that there was a definate reaction when the Tardis materalized in the church.

Odd side note, I didn't like how the Doctor was calling her 'Sarah' and not 'Sarah Jane', struck me as odd.

Ooh, and is anyone else wondering if the Doctor is going to pick up on Rani's name? He hasn't met her before, it would be interesting if there was a bit of a conversation, or a nod to The Rani.

Yeah that is a trifle odd, I'm sure both Jon and Tom's Doctors called her Sarah Jane, and that 10 called in Sarah Jane before now...

Oh cripes maybe he isn't The Doctor! :alienblush:

Or more likely it is just what it appears to be, an in series joke referencing that Gita always calls her Sarah: I suspect the latter.

The third and fourth Doctors didn't exclusively call her "Sarah Jane." There are times, especially when the chips are down and the Doctor's feeling particularly terse, that he shortens it to "Sarah."
