The Sarah Jane Adventures S3 Discussion Thread (UK Pace)

I also loved when the kids asked if they could look inside the TARDIS, and suddenly for a moment he was channeling Tom Baker, with the "You want to look in my TARDIS?!"

I loved that bit, too. It reminded me of Tom Baker, too. I was a kid when the 4th Doctor was in residence and I always got a vibe from him that he was heroic, smart, trustworthy and scary. That's what I got at that moment from Tennant. A few of Tennant's acting choices remind me a great deal of Tom Baker, too. I'm glad someone else saw it, too.

Yeah that is a trifle odd, I'm sure both Jon and Tom's Doctors called her Sarah Jane, and that 10 called in Sarah Jane before now...
The third and fourth Doctors didn't exclusively call her "Sarah Jane." There are times, especially when the chips are down and the Doctor's feeling particularly terse, that he shortens it to "Sarah."

I do not recall Tom Baker referring to her as "Sarah Jane" even once, although I do recall Jon Pertwee doing it quite a bit.

His first episode, ROBOT, he is reeling from post-regen trauma. He says the Brig's full name, shaking his hand profusely, and then sees Sarah and goes "Well, Sarah-Jane! Now isn't this nice?"

Really nice episode. Kudos to the entire creative team. I don't watch the show, but I've seen pieces of episodes. Enough to recognize that this was a superior outing. Loved Tennant in this. It's shame he's going. He seems to have finally found that balance between "zany" and overbearing. The final scene as she exits the TARDIS were as heartbreaking as the first time she left Tom... :techman:

Good one, of course MENTALLY he was still Jon Pertwee. Tom Baker hadn't fully settled into the Doctor's psyche yet.

The events leading up to the face of evil retroactively occurred while he was regeneration sick, right?

So does that mean that he was fighting Pertwee in the face of evil, when he was battling a copy of his own brain patterns?

Is Clyde the only competent one on SJA?

He is probably my favourite character on the show.

It was nice seeing DT back in action, can't wait for WoM.

Irrespective of this being the last time Sarah Jane will see Tennant's Doctor, do people think it will be the last time she sees the Doctor in any incarnation?

The Doctor saves Luke from being hit by a car while he walks across the road on the phone, the Doctor walks away back to his Tardis while Sarah-Jane shouts for him, he waves and steps in the Tardis as it demateralizes. It's speculated that in the final episode of the Sarah-Jane Adventures, that this sequence will happen without The Doctor's intervention, and the Doctor's actions in the final episodes of DW is because he wants to do something good for Sarah-Jane, thinking he is going to die and won't get another oppertunity.

I hope she meets the Eleventh Doctor, that would be nice. Same with Captain Jack, I wonder if he'd recognise the Doctor in a second regeneration.

ok I was just looking up pictures for the av contest and found this screen cap from Torchwood: Something Borrowed

I might have this wrong, but is this not the same location as the one in TWOSJS

Oh, absolutely. I was just referencing one scene I knew where he called her Sarah-Jane. You are, of course, right about Pertwee using the full name. But, Baker was much more personal with her... :techman:

I watched part ii again today. Two things:

The Gate?

and

I balled my eyes out at the final scene. If this is a kids show, I dread to think how many kids were balling their eyes out at the end. Hopefully a lot of parents were as well.
