The ROTJ constructive criticism thread

Would have been unfortunate for Luke if Jabba decided to immediately feed Han and Chewie to the Rancor, or if Jabba decided to tell the Empire what was going on.

BTW, what's the relationship between the Hutts & the Empire? Is Tatooine a part of the Empire? Do the Hutts still control the planet and just turn a blind eye to Imperial Stormtroopers marching around Mos Eisley and murdering moisture farmers while searching for missing droids? Has the Empire driven the Hutts (or at least some of them, like Jabba) underground, like modern day crime lords, well known to the authorities but too careful & too connected for any criminal charges to actually stick?

It's in essence a protectorate, with the Empire there as a show of force, and that's about it. It simply isn't important enough for the Empire to worry about crime lords.

I know. I was making a joke. ROTJ only has a few plot points that a similar than TFA.
I did remember that before the prequels, this was as the movie people hated. Must have been the teddy bears.

It's a dark day when the Porg get more adoration than the Charmin Mascots(tm) of Endor had. But Chewie never ate an Ewok - there's a missed opportunity, one that would have won the adults back. (Don't get me wrong, the Porg and Chewie took me by surprise and were a marvelous addition to the franchise and it's nice to see the Porg be forgiving of Chewie's A1 antics (with A1 BBQ sauce)...)

The Luke/Vader/Emperor scenes are pretty much the only part of ROTJ worth watching. The rest is extended or recycled filler.

Apart from Leia's "I've always known you were my brother", in which case all the scenes of her frenching and fondling him are a lot creepier than a mere mindless afterthought on the part of the writers between saga's alleged inception (1975?) and 1983's final draft, noting "Episode IV" wasn't even introduced until after the movie was a runaway smash hit and updated made and sent out... Everyone who hates Disney's two movies, citing "nothing's planned", would also realize the original trilogy wasn't all that planned out either. Not just because of Jerry Lee Lewis Springer-inspired smoochie-smoochie... Which isn't to say the OT isn't good - all 3 eps are very entertaining. Just not the status of "bulletproof masterpieces" accorded them.
