"THE ROMULAN WAR" preview on Trekmovie

I imagine it has, but there literally hundreds of novels I haven't read. Kudos to Judith & Garfield Reeves-Stevens for making it onscreen canon though.
I wish someone finally made the term "Rihannsu" ("The Declared") on-screen canon (I know that there's the whole royalties issue, but all the same, I'd still like to hear the word "Rihannsu" on screen).

Looking forward to this one. I've been wanting to see how the Romulan War went down for a long time now. I wasn't that impressed with Kobayashi Maru, but I'm hoping this will be as good as Last Full Measure and The Good that Men Do or even better.

I'm glad it hasn't been. But then, I seem to be in the very small minority in regards to the "Rihannsu" stuff. I'm not a fan of that name at all.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't want "Rihannsu" to be canon.

If we cannot have season 5 at least we can have books. :techman:

I'm glad that more are coming out.

Damn you, Mach5... I saw the title of this, and that it was linked to trekmovie.com and I was like "HOLY CRAP THEY'RE DOING A DIRECT TO DVD!!!!" and then I saw it was about the new novel...

On a side note, I have The Good That Men Do and Kobayashi Maru on their way from Amazon, and I'm looking forward to the follow-up in the series.

Damn you, Mach5...
I've been getting that a lot lately :guffaw:

Haha, no offense, buddy. I was just drinking my coffee and saw this and almost spit it out all over my laptop... hopefully that does happen someday, I'd happily buy a new laptop to see ENT continued on the big screen, or on my little big screen and Blu-Ray at home.

There's no royalties issue. The Rihannsu novels were written under a work-for-hire contract; that means that CBS Studios owns them lock, stock, and barrel and can use any elements from them that they please without having to pay Diane Duane.

I just wanted to let Enterprise fans know it looks like the next Enterprise novel after The Romulan war hasn't been confirmed to come out in 2011.It may be 2012.I have to say I find that news disappointing. It seems like they have way too many post nemesis TNG era books.I haven't cared for them they've been quite dark & depressing.

the cover blurb is terrible. they may as well replace it with...in the 22nd century war was beginning...

Think the cover is awesome, but don't hold out too much hope for the book. Everyone of them has been terrible except for What Price Honor featuring Lt. Reed.

I wouldn't worry about the quality. As long as its as good as the previous two, its gonna be just fine. I don't expect it to win any awards though.

The only thing that worries me is the absence of Andy Mangels, he and Mike Martin were a great team.

I thought Andy Mangels was a pretty shoddy writer with some passable ideas. We'll see.

yeah that would be bad.

There's no royalties issue. CBS/Paramount own the term "Rihannsu" outright, should they choose to use it canonically. Novel tie-in contracts require the writer to sign over all rights.

There are still vacancies in the 2010 schedule - nothing is set in stone - and the announced "Romulan War" book (for Oct 2009) is a trade paperback. It was originally announced as a MMPB trilogy, but they decided to go with a very chunky trade instead, so it seems we are getting a lot of story in that first book.

The 2011 schedule isn't even announced yet!

Therin thanks for the Enterpise book news update. I'm glad The Enterprise Romulan war book will be a longer length story.I like the idea of the longer story because of all the the unanswered question after the cliffhanger ending in Kobayashi Maru .:techman:
