The Roddenberry Archive / OTOY

Here’s the sketch by Ken Adam that the 3D environment is based on.

I’ve been staring at this concept drawing since I was a child and looking at it in my Art of Star Trek book. Seeing it come to life like this is … wild.

I could see a version of that using StageCraft’s Volume as one huge view screen. The lower “window” the Volume itself—with the CG above as an overlay to hide cameras.

I just noticed that I was able to go into Archer's ready room on the NX-01 bridges. Was this available before, or was it a quiet part of the April update?

Is the navigation in the Archive screwed up for anyone else right now? When I try to pan/tilt the camera around with my mouse, it either stares up at the ceiling or down at the floor and spins in circles. I thought it might be an issue with my trackball, but I'm getting the same actions from both my laptop's trackpad and a wireless mouse. I've tried the usual basic troubleshooting steps (clearing cache & relevant cookies) to no avail.

Just clicked into the Defiant and it worked fine for me.

Hi folks, we released a new video today! It's called "Return to Tomorrow", and is narrated by the one and only John De Lancie. It showcases some of our latest work and explains the mission of the Archive, check it out!

It's not active yet; the only ships where you can currently visit other areas are:

1701 ("The Cage")
1701 (SNW)
1701 (TOS S1)
1701-D (TNG S1)
1701-D (TNG S7)

(disclaimer: I don't have any inside knowledge of what they're planning to add to the Archive, I just know this from spending lots of time there. Seriously, walking around one of those bridges is a great way to de-stress.)

If you check out the artists on Artstation, you'll see many other areas of the various ships which will presumably appear down the line. And some of it is from 2022! They've been sitting on this for ages, presumably waiting for the technology to be widely available.

No RA artist has unreleased stuff from the Archive on their portfolio, it would kinda spoil the surprise. ;)

Like you said that stuff is years old, and was made as fan-art (probably what got each of us the job in the first place). The standards for the Archive as so high that none of that could just be added in, usually each room is a months long process.

^I was going to say, I looked through @Donny's folder on Artstation, and it all looked like stuff he'd shared here prior to going to work for the Archive.
