I just finished watching the Roddenberry/Nimoy and Creating “Unification” videos. Wonderful. As a TOS old timer, I hope I will be around long enough to see a full length episode one day. Not sure if I could sit through it, though, because every time I watch one of your videos, Jules, this funny lump always seems to appear in the back of my throat…

I just finished watching it, and there’s that lump in my throat…again! One of the things in “Unification” that hits me hard (in an good way) every time I see it (after from the scene with Spock, of course) is when the young version of Kirk appears. It’s similar to how I felt when he first saw Spock turn around and face the camera when he’s beside Kirk’s grave. I don’t know if anyone else has expressed the same feeling, and I’m not sure if I am describing it very well.

A couple of questions, if I may.

Am I correct that the film of Spock sitting in the captain’s chair at about the 39:00 mark is *not* a clip from TMP? If so, another amazing work of art.

Finally, will you be able to do as much with audio as you do with video? Only Bill, George, and Walter are left to record anything. 😞

Correct. While set in the TMP timeframe, I don’t believe Spock ever sat in the center seat. This is a new render. And it’s freaking amazing!
Yes! That's Sam and Lawrence as Kirk and Spock on Donny's TMP bridge from the Roddenberry archive, filmed in June of last year as part of a section that didn't get used in the final cut. Sam is performing Kirk's voice from orignal dialog, and also speaking as Gen Kirk in another test earlier in my talk we made for Bill. There a few seconds of TOS era Kirk and Spock on greenscreen test we did earlier that year. I know people had been asking if we could do audio (which we chose not to do in Unification, only for creative reasons), so I thought this would be informative for anyone interested...
